I was unaware of the dichotomy that arose in later years but was a fan in the 60s, so can answer one of your questions - Superman's alter-ego clothes were kept in a tiny pocket of cape, into which he compressed them.

Hi Tony2Times!
I've not read this before because the title put me off, it sounds geeky, I know Superman, but from the films, not the comics.
<>
being given
<>
I don't understand that, is it geek-speak?
Is retconned a word?
Superman canon? A possible explanation in footnotes?
<>
Superboy
<>
Once the Kents died he moved to the city Metropolis and became Superman while attending university. After graduating with a degree in journalism he was hired by the newspaper The Daily Planet.
<>
spacecraft
I'm a bit lost here: when you say "The new canon" do you mean "Smallville" the tv series? (I've not seen it, but my friend has a son who is potty about it) If so, you should mention it by name before you start talking about it
<>
toxins
<>
intelligence
<>
parts of his body - although I'm not sure what you mean.
<>
Do you mean the humans in the comic books?
Footnote 5: And often parodied in comdies. = comedies
<> = in the event of his death
<>
= but soon turned to like him after his old friend
<>
=
Surrogate parents of the alien child, Ma and Pa Kent found Kal-El's crashed spaceship on their farm and decided to raise him as their own.
<>
Something of a technology whizz-kid, Jimmy rigged a watch with a hypersonic sound emitter that attracted Superman's attention. Impressed with Olsen's initiative, the two became friends, and he is sometimes referred to as 'Superman's pal'. At one time he almost revealed Superman's identity on national television to save himself embarassment.
<>
He was wrong however, and Clark persuaded him that reporters must sometimes keep their secrets; (?)reporting (?)announcing ...that Superman was actually no-one he knew, he was fired from the TV show and re-hired by the paper.
<>
successful reporter
<> I thought "Jr" was given to a son of the same name as his father?
<>
I'm a bit confused here - you then talk about Superman taking the youngster under his cape - a good analogy, but I take it Superman wasn't dead then? Maybe insert "unconscious" before "body" so we know he's not (but I don't know the story so write what actually happened)
Dr. John Henry Irons = Dr John Henry Irons
but retired once he realised the devestating effects = devastating
Washington D.C. = Washington DC
..before he set his eyes on Lois Lane, who was shortly detracted by the debut of the Man of Steel.
distracted?
<> I think you missed off the end of that sentence?
superheros = I can't find superhero in my dictionary but the plural of hero is heroes so I assume superheros should be superheroes but I stand to be corrected on that.
pilgrimmage = pilgrimage
post-humous = posthumous
Tony2Times, well done (sorry for the humungous post)just trying to help.

I'm sorry, I forgot to correct "At one time he almost revealed Superman's identity on national television to save himself embarassment." = embarrassment

'retcon' is short for 'retroactive continuity, ie changing past events in current issues/episodes of a comic/TV series. It's explained in footnote 2, but perhpas a longer explaination in the body of teh etxt would be a good idea.
The most simple example that you'll be familar with GB is when a character was previously thought to be dead then suddenly pops up again. Think Harold in Neighbours, or teh retcon to end all retcons, Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower.

Added both cannon and retcon footnote explanations and changed the plethora of spelling mistakes which I should be ashamed for (as an English student I apologise, but as an internet user I excuse myself on grounds of not having a spellchecker and this being a long article).
I haven't added the bit about Kryptonite giving comic book humans cancer as I assumed that it's a given that mostly this article speaks of the canon (eh? eh?) and not the real world.
Have left the confusing bit about Superman supposedly dying because I figure'd I'll do an extra bit about that, I didn't realise how big an influence it had being only wee at the time, but apparently Superman's death was covered widely on American news networks and some celebs, including Jay Leno, wore black armbands sporting the S insignia.
Phew, everything else done and dusted I believe, hope its all cool and the gang now Annie.
P.S. Oh to be older and watched Bobby Ewing step out of the shower; American girl on my floor didn't know about that, nor even the show Dallas, so many jokes wasted. *rolls eyes*

I'm sure there'll be some comments once I do the Death Of section, rather a confusing series but I think it's important enough to be put in, doubtless the confusing element will result in a bit of editing.

Right, done the Death of Section. I'm sure you'll all see it; its that new bit that's way too long and rather confusing and convoluted part, but such is the story, under the No Its Superman header. Probably worthy of its own entry its that long and confusing. Hope its clear enough
