The story of the great Italian goalkeeper who led his country to World Cup triumph 20 years ago. I think this Entry is definitely pretty timely. I hope you'll find it enjoyable too! smiley - smiley

Although I can't say that I'm a great lover of football, so I can't comment on the content, I thought the entry was interesting and well presented. smiley - ok

Glad you enjoyed it, ZSF! smiley - ok

It's funny that you should mention the presentation, because I've just realised that I used subheaders where I should have used headers. I've changed that - hope you don't mind! smiley - smiley

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

smiley - laughNo, not at all.

I've been thinking - his name reminds me of an old fashioned treatment for removing elastoplast residue!smiley - silly

I also remembered that my football club, Bury (also known as the Shakers), won the Cup in 1904 (or thereabouts) without conceding a goal! Look at them now!

smiley - huh Hold on, ZSF: you said that you weren't a great lover of football. Now you say you're a Bury supporter...

Actually, on second thoughts, maybe that makes perfect sense. smiley - winkeye

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Hi Ormy!

Football supporter, me? No? I just lived opposite the ground until I became a student and moved away. I used to watch them when I was a child, but now? If I ever see the footy results, I look to see how they're doing, however I rarely do. I don't watch TV much at all. Once in a blue moon.

However in their day, Bury shook the league - hence their nickname.

Please forgive the suggestion that you're a serious footy fan, ZSF! smiley - winkeye

If you generally avoid watching much TV, will you be avoiding it even more than usual during the World Cup? smiley - bigeyes

Is 26 really that old for a goalkeeper to make it into the National team? Or is it just in England that all our keepers are old croaks?
Seaman - 25
James - 27
Martyn - 26

Oh and that was for their debuts of course. They are all way older than that now. Seaman I think is 38, so nearly as old as Zoff was when he won the World Cup. However of course Seaman is in a team that has no chance of winning this time around smiley - erm

Wow great entry, as far as I can see goal keepers do tend to be older than outfield players, I can't think of one piece of informationt that this entries lacking, and presentation seems great as well.

Thanks, Zed! smiley - ok

GreyDesk - yes, you've got a good point there. 'Keepers do tend to peak later than outfield players, so 26 probably isn't an unusally advanced age for a net-minder to get his first international call-up. I've amended the Entry accordingly. smiley - smiley

Can I just shamelessly draw attention to the fact that this Entry about a World Cup winning goalkeeper and captain is now ripe for picking?

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
