Here's another huge one!
But honestly, it is a summary of Norse mythology!

Looks good. Entertaining and informative... I'd like to recommend it.
You might want to include a bit of info on Tolkien, Wagner and Robin Jarvis...
I'll be interested in the community response.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jul 26, 2001
There was already an entry submitted to Peer Review about Norse Mythology a few weeks ago. I believe that the author decided to move it to a University Project. If this project is ongoing, I don't think you should submit your article here, as you're not supposed to be competing to get there first! I suggest you look into the University Project and volunteer to collaborate. Here's a link to the other Peer Review thread: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F48874?thread=124115

Hi!
I checked on the University of Life page and I couldn't find anything on this subject in either finished or ongoing projects.
However, if the guy decides to put his entry up as a University project, I'd be only too happy to collaborate.

I assume there won't be a University project unless *you* create one. R, the author of the other entry, has unsubscribed from the thread...
This one is *great*!

First of all; I'm not a guy (But then, you weren't to know)
Second; There won't be a uni project for a while yet as I don't have time
Third; Will I be able to do a uni project on the same subject if this article gets in?
Forth;Good article! My only real comment is that it was America that was called Vinland.
There are some small diffarences between the creation story in your article and the one in mine (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A577226) but then that is only to be expected as the stories weren't written down. The same goes for the saga of Ragnarok (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A577668).
Speaking of vikings: The only reason they are often thought of as a warish lot is because they made the mistake of targeting moestaries for their raids, ie the people who wrote down history.

Hi there!
Don't worry, I was just using 'guy' in a sort of non-gender specific way!
Thanks for the compliments: I've altered the entry as you've pointed out!
Regards to your question about the University of Life project:
I'm not too sure whether this entry will go in, because if you are planning it for definite, then the ball swings the way of the Uni project rather than my entry, I think.
But, if this entry was to go in, I'm not quite sure what'd happen, but I think you wouldn't be able to do a project on the topic.
It's probably best asking one of the scouts or sub-editors, as I'm not too sure what'll happen.
My offer for help with the Uni project is still open, though!
Thanks for the comments!

I wonder if it is possible to have two researchers on a uni project? As Nors Mythology is such a larg subject it would probably work out better that way. I'll try to find out....

I quite like the entry! It gives a nice overview (as far as I can tell, being no expert).
Though you do introduce one or two characters without further explanation (e.g. Loki).
Another group which uses the Norse mythology as a source of inspriation are metal(-ish)/goth(-ish) bands, e.g. Black Sabbath's Album "Tyr" (could come up with a longer list, if you're interested...).
Anyway. A Great entry which should make it into the Guide!
