A Conversation for The Pit

I've been there. I may not know your subject, but tell us what your project/assignment is. If you check in every few hours, we can supply increasingly irrelevant comments and suggestions which will get you so angry that your adrenalin levels will overcome your basic propensity to procrastinate. Then, just to get back at us, you'll finish it, flourish it in our faces and get a good grade.
Why do other people put jam on this keyboard?

To get to the other side.
My project is on Rene Magritte and how several events in his life inspired various works.
It may appear to be concrete enough, but I can assure you that I have never dealt with anything more abstract in my life.
However, I am finishing up the last few lines of my outline and will procede to write the first entry shortly (even though I've been doing this for at least three hours now as the clock is twenty from striking five!)

If we had a few days, we might be able to discuss it usefully. With our deadline, the only sensible response is to wish you luck and keep silent.

Mund Posted Oct 21, 2001
When you're back, though, you could offer some good ideas for pit decoration.

I appreciate your wanting to help, but don't worry about it. This is my fault and I shouldn't drag you down with me...
Besides, I've decided to go mad! Everything is for the better!!!

Mund Posted Oct 21, 2001
Don't be silly. Going mad doesn't help. I've tried it.

I have been doing work, thank you very much!!!
And I was just about to bid you a happy goodnight too, but if you're going to sit there and think so badly of me I'll just go ahead and pass out without saying a word...

Goodnight, sleep well, and remind where you are in the world when you wake up again.

Mund Posted Oct 21, 2001
I'm listening to a few "amateur" mp3 tracks and thinking "I could do that". All I need is a couple of friends (living in the same country might be a good start) and a bit of equipment. Words, music and singing I can handle, even a few instrumental tracks...
Has anybody explored the percussive possibilities of an aluminium cigar tube? Has anybody else even seen one?

Mother of God, Empress of the Universe Posted Oct 21, 2001
I've seen one, but never tried thought of making an instrument of it. Did you expolre yet? Did it work?

You know, about a year ago I was thinking it would be really fun to make a piece of music with other researchers, everyone record tracks and mix them together. That was back when it was still possible to put music on your page. We could give it a shot if you want. My only problem is that I'm really not at all talented musically. I just like to mess with things and see what I can do, I'm not trying to achieve anything resembling perfection. Probably best for me to keep my cacaphony off anything we'd try to make. But I DO have Sound Forge, could learn how to use it.

Still listening to the "amateur" mp3s...
The phrase "crazy beautiful" keeps coming to mind. These tracks are good!
MoG - your omnipresence is limited here (obviously a dimensional problem), because I've just had to pour my own enormous scotch.

I've been intermittently blessed with a very slooooooooooooooooow puter the last few days. *sigh* You just can't rely on your servers these days, can you?
*mixes a for Mund and a

*has a typically bizarre idea and bounces to Mund's page to see if he left an email addy there*
I might have a solution for an eternal cocktail....

You did! Incoming cybercocktail from Brittamog, once I mix it up. I'm playing with photoshop tonight.

Thanks for the drink, MoG. Now, if I can just avoid some of the goo-like eruptions for long enough to reach it... I can test your assurance that the glass will never be half-empty.

Mother of God, Empress of the Universe Posted Oct 23, 2001
Those goo-like eruptions are the fountains of youth and knowlege, my dear. It tingles when you touch them, and it makes you a mite frisky. They're mostly harmless as long as you don't overindulge.
Now watch this trick....
*pulls a from his glass*

Mund Posted Oct 23, 2001
Fountains of youth and knowledge can go down as well as up, and frisky mites are not an unalloyed good.
But I'm listening to some excellent music and enjoying a water-of-life after a particularly strenuous evening (sons go to birthday party 9pm to 1am with bikes and skateboards, return with massive sweat and derangement syndrome plus unexpected friend to stay the night).
Life. Don't talk to me about life.
