Well, it's a nice entry. The only thing that might get it stopped from being edited is if any of the other entries on Australia are deemed to be too similar, and I haven't time to look. However, the Italics should know! I'd keep it in peer review and see what happens.
On a quick scan, the only thing that I noticed was the reference to the Don. Now you might have difficulty in believing this, but not everyone will know what sport he played! Somthing in parenthesis or a footnote will suffice.

If you want this to get Edited, might I recommend losing the Beer Section since there's now an Entry on Autralian Beer, state by state, at A653339. This would lead to an amount of repeated information which would not be accepted in the Edited Guide. However, the Entry is of sound quality and so with that relatively minor change, and a link to the above Entry, it should be in with a fair chance.

Lose the beer section???????
::faints::
*thud*
::recovers::
Surely A653339 is about buying beer in Australia, it doesn't seem to mention which ones to try/avoid/laugh at. Imagine if a tourist arrived and was served a Southwark! They'd jump on the first plane outta here and miss all the good stuff.
One thing I did notice in that article is that a Darwin Stubby is quoted as being 1.25 litres. Surely it is larger than that? I will toddle off to a mates place tonight and check out the exact size. I have it at 2.25 litres
I will add a link to this excellent article and maybe even make a few of the minor changes I've been meaning to do for ages.
But if people don't know who The Don was, or what sport he played, they couldn't possibly be true sports fans and don't deserve to know of his achievements!
Actually the bit about the late great Sir Donald Bradman was put in just to see if I could get a bite from someone of American persuasion.
Oh alright, I'll put a little mention of cricket in.

Okay, it looks like we're both wrong with regard to the size of a Darwin Stubbie/Stubby.
I am reliably informed by a mate (on the phone) that "It says 2000ml on the label". So there you have it. A Darwin Stubbie is a 2 litre bottle of beer.

Guran Posted Mar 4, 2002
It is with dubious pleasure that I accept the correction on the volume of a Darwin Stubbie! Having completely failed to eyeball one while writing the article, and failing to find a web reference, I called my brother in law (who used to live in Darwin) who verified with a mate of his the "1.25L" volume. However, I'm prepared to accept that if someone has one in front of them (and let's face it, I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy ...) and reads "2000ml" on it, then they're probably right.
Now to nit-pick - although no beer is brewed and packaged in commercial quantities in the ACT, the "Wig and Pen", a pub in Civic, has a micro-brewery consistently producing a range of beers served from siphon taps on the premises. Also, judging by the number of home-brew shops in the ACT (including the imaginatively named "Brew Your Own At Home", in Wanniassa), there is a fair bit of home brewing going on - I know I do!
Cheers,
Guran

Not quite sure that any of the volumes quoted is right. A website I visited a while ago stated the Darwin Stubby as a 1 litre bottle.
Another article on the history of CUB suggests my original quote of 2.25 litres was right. So, I rang my mate back and he said "It bloody-well says 2000ml on the label! Dya reckon I can't read or something?"
It would appear that the Darwin Stubbie has had changing quantities of refreshing liquid in it. What it is today is anybody's guess. I think I'll stick with 2.25 litres, it's an impressive looking figure.

OK. Sorry I opened my mouth and spoke. (It never is a good idea for me to lurk in PR late at night anyway...)

A few changes are in place.
I'm thinking of changing the title to "Australia - A Cultural Perspective".
Any thoughts??

I like this entry. I don't know much (anything) about Australia, so I can't really comment, other than to say that it reads well. It's definitely the sort of thing that should be in the guide. YOu say that Australia is bigger than the United States. Not by my figures it's not! Australia 7.68 million square kilometers, USA 9.53 square kilometers. Did you by any chance mean the USA excluding Alaska. THat would be smaller. If so, you could say "bigger than the 48 contiguous states of the USA".

So what happens now? How long does "editing" take? I've never submitted someone else's article before, the first two of mine were edited pre-peer review days.

It can't be edited until it's been picked by a scout. This does not seem to have happened yet. I don't know why, because it seems to be a good entry and has plenty of useful stuff in it. Sometimes scouts hold off if the entry has an unfinished look, but this one appears to be very much complete.
No doubt, a scout will pick it eventually.
