A Conversation for Guide Entries that Should Be Written

Is there a doctor in the house?

(Make that plural - are there a lot of doctors in the house?) Following a conversation recently on various anti-malarial drugs, I think we need something on a disease that killed two million people last year. As a diabetic, I think I might have managed to avoid diabetes if I had known that having big babies and being overweight were predisposing factors. We don't seem to have anything on AIDS either.smiley - star

I agree we need more medical stuff. Possibly a First Aid guide and possibly a small initial medical dictionary of common illnesses.

Pegasus - http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U54754 is doing a project on women's health, including pregnancy, so that should fill the gap a bit. smiley - smiley That can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A534944, maybe you could ask her to include a bit about diabetes in pregnancy. smiley - smiley

There was an entry on scoliosis being worked on (the entry that helped me discover that I had scoliosis myself) but the author removed it. We need one on that

I didn't think you could remove anything you had written once it was in the guide, obviously you can

You can delete journal entries, and guide entries, but nothing in conversations. Any threads on journal or guide entries that people have replied to will still be visible in their conversation lists though.

A bit late mow maybe, but harking back to the topic of medical orientated entries, there really ought to be an equivalent of the womens health uni project focussing of mens health - particularly on testicular cancer.

This is great news, I found something that someone suggested has been written. Although some of them seem to have been written before this conversation was started. smiley - laugh

Yeah, do that. I'll write some stuff about Raynaud's-linked diseases if I get some time.

Bravo and good point!
As a Diabetic myself (type 1 though, which your post would indicate as not being the type you have?) I intend to write an entry - i've been involved with various Diabetes research groups and im sure i can come up with something - obviously ill check whats already available on the guide before i do!

I think that diseases for someone not in the medical proffession often create little interest, and if you have it/are directly involved in it it can be confronting or just plain boring to have to do a report on it!
But i think we should all try - for the sake of knowledge and the guide, eh? smiley - smiley

I have kidney disease and am undergoing regular dialysis. Would an Entry from this perspective be of interest?

I'm completing an entry on the Scopes Trial at present but, once that's out of the way, I could tackle this.
