very soon you'll be getting an 'official welcome' in your messages, explaining a little about the workings of h2g2. The various types of entries go into different areas and it seems that you haven't posted to the most suitable one.

it may be worth pointing out the writing guidelines, which explains what we look for for in edited guide entries. It will explain why we do not think this guide is suitable for the edited guide.

It is not so easy to navigate the h2g2 pages, and people often put things into Peer Review accidentally. The guidelines are quite easy to understand, but often pass by unnoticed by a fair few newcomers.

Thank you for all your messages. What I found difficult was finding how to put my post in psychology, philosophy section or whatever. I could find peer review etc. in the menu that covered this part of dropping things in it but not that - where did it all go so wrong? (It's been a disastrous few weeks, in which a site I visit had a hacker who hacked me and several other members egos to death - eventually I bored 'him' to death I think - and my wife's brother from Norway appeared and was boringly demanding, which led her to hack at me with her tongue, even worse than the hacker; being made of gelignite I exploded (Even a nice cup of tea didn't help, especially as it was thrown at me with a brick in it).

Enough of this moaning, please can you tell me was the mistake in the bookmark entry or the Peer review menu and if so what should I have done/ can I do now to rectify this and how?I need comfort food - NOW!

I see from the above posts that Lil is your 'ACE'. You'll have a 'welcome from your ACE' message on your 'Space' (i.e., 'My Space', 'Messages') which will explain a lot and your ACE will be one of the best people to help ofi you still have difficulties.

This part of the guide is for factual entries which comply with certain guidelines and I'm not sure where your entry should go.

the planet hootoo ( or h2g2 as it is often known ) is always exceptionally pleased to make the acquaintance of new denizens.

You will find a small {x} with Remove this entry at the right hand side

Click on the {x}

Your entry will be returned to your Personal Space ( ie home page)

where others will still be able to read and comment.

I had read the guideline bullet points but not the explanatory stuff in full: So no personal theories on life, the universe, everything then! Gad that ruins the next post as well then, on migraines!

I think the problem is that I wasn't expecting the Golgafinchan B Ark to be running this site! By this I mean in my opinionated opinion that it should be H2G2'for'the future, not 'to' the future. In other words it's not about theoretical speculation (How can you provide physical proof of something that hasn't happened yet?) but known phenomena i.e. the past, that is being projected towards people in the future, 'for' them as opposed to the other. What is the other? The unknown, the new, the different, the indescribable for this very reason.

It's funny but Tomorrow's World and similar 'factual programs' got it consistently wrong, whereas fiction writers like Verne and Wells got it consistently right...but what is 'right' anyway? Time for a Galactic Gargleblaster or a nice cup of tea I believe?*

* I thought this site could be the Apple of my 'I' before discovering everything had gone pear shaped. I don't know if I can, under these circumstances, add anything to this site but maybe I'll read others postings and just vehemently disagree for the hell of it, just like a particular nasty American hacker I can't get rid of at the moment, who's just been banned from a site I was on but no before he got my email address (listing not safe forum with aliases). Anyway it's the equivalent of a viral infection: Tried the alternative H2G2 site but feel I probably didn't fit in there either, even less well than here but I could have added to the meaning of Liff!

well, this was started by Douglas Adams, and he set out the aims of the site.

if you disagree with it, I'd advise you to take it up with him.

You can still write for the Guide. All 'A' pages are part of the Guide, they are just not put into PeerReview for the Edited Guide.

If you prefer fiction, or opinion pieces, then perhaps <./>writing-alternative</.> will be more your style

Yes John that wasn't a nice thing to say - you shouldn't take newbies comments like mine personally as you don't know where they've been (insult or praise is in the mind, so 'mind' how you go or out of your mind you go: I'm not sure Douglas would have found my humour very funny either but Marvin would have understood it, even if he couldn't stand it - by the way I need a stand in for my life- any volunteers? I'll take that as a 'know' then as in I 'know' you're sort, you miserable bugger. Yes, you're on the A ark but it's cold and dark and lonely, when you're so right (That reminds me of a book title 'How to start an argument by I.M. Wright & U.R. Wong). Must stop rambling and take my pills - Holstein Pils that is - or ramble in Ernest (he doesn't like it but if he forgets to shut the gate when he goes out of his mind, it's his fault isn't it? Hey, what are you doing? Don't slam that metaphorical door in my face again, I'm not really a philosophy insurance salesman. Sod it, another site I'm banned from for being a miserable trumpet player! (bugler...silly bugler..no? Oh well).
