Now, that will make for great photos. I'll bet you go...smiley - whistle (Bet I don't.)

I remember being excited about a solar eclipse we could see in Memphis when I was a child. All we had for it were largish pieces of overexposed camera film, but that worked.

Thanks for sharing that. I thought of you when I heard on the radio here that they feared it would be too cloudy in China.

Oh it's very tempting, but with a son just off to Uni I think finances are going to be pretty tight for a while!

We were extremely lucky in our choice of site: we'd looked at a variety of different tours, run by a variety of tour operators. Some offered a visit to panda habitats, others to see a world famous tidal bore, neither of which were on our particular agenda. But we did amongst our fellow tourees joke in the "Is this Tuesday? Is this the day we see the pandas surfing on the tidal bore?" vein.

And we did issue a triumphal fist-raised "Yes!" when we heard that all those other tour groups had picked eclipse sites that got clouded over - Shanghai had torrential rain! I know, I know, schadenfraude is nothing to be proud of...

Wow! I am glad you got to go! Thanks for sharing this with us! It must be a little akin to some 0f the miniearthquakes I went through in Greece. It is just rather disorienting for something like the ground to move between your feet, these cosmic events are AWESOME!
