Might as well kick off a debate here, so some off-the-wall suggestions.
1) Could try and go bowling again. Edinburgh or Glasgow, same difference.
2) The Glasgow Science Centre will be open by then. 400 foot high rotating tower, high voltage electricity shows etc. Might not be everyone's cup of tea though.
3) Or, out of the central belt, Stirling? Is there anything to do in Stirling? (that doesn't involve worryingly phallic towers)
4) er...

Just had the good lady say and I quote 'Glasgow sounds cool' must be the scientist in her. Either that or it's been too warm in London this past month. I can't repeat her last statement or I'll get in trouble with Abi and Peta though.

Glasgow gets my vote, what with having somewhe... oh wait, no, I don't have anywhere to crash there either. Nut rum truffles!! Anyhoo, the Science centre could be cool though.

Rightiho, I'll try and find out more about the GSC from someone who has had a preview. Also, there's an item about it at http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_1394000/1394637.stm , and this has a link to the GSC site itself, if anyones interested.

Science centre sounds cool. High voltage shows. Will there be buttons to push?
Glasgow works for me too, since I could possibly get a train home without having to leave at about 9:30....

Arggg. After me suggesting it what happens? They muck up the launch and will be closed for a (claimed) week. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/scotland/newsid_1402000/1402389.stm has the details. Still, 'er Madg is on course to officially open the thing on 5th of July, so it should be OK.
They've also got the prices up on the web page (finally). Bit scary if you're on your own, but looks more reasonable if we can get a group of over 10. £9.50 for a double ticket (e.g. the Science mall and the tower) for a single person, but £6.50 for groups (per head, I assume ). Apparently you only get about 4 minutes up the tower though .
Any other suggestions out there? (apart from dwarf tossing - far too messy and liable to get you arrested)

More Science Centre balls-ups. The railings aren't safe apparently, so the entertainment licence has been delayed again. Given how these things can drag on with the council, I'm getting a bit worried here.
I think we need a backup plan. Suggestions?

We could wander the streets looking stupid and pulling wacky faces for someone with a camcorder.
Oh no, we did that last time.

I was just reading another entry, and a pub crawl along Byres road seems to be getting a lot of support
or maybe just booze in Ashton lane !!!

So can you confirm that it *is* in Glasgow? It makes booking stuff a bit difficult if I don't even know where I'm supposed to be going.

Well, nobody has shot me down in flames yet, so I guess Glasgow it is. Current plans - meet in Glasgow Central at, ohh I dunno, maybe about 1 pm or so.

Glasgow gets my vote, possibly because I live there . If I suggest the cultural and educational merits of Botanic Gardens then the close proximity of Byres Road could be a factor to swing people in favour of that idea. Any takers? Or how about the Hunterian Museum at Glasgow University.? Oh look, that's just off Byres Road as well. What a coincidence...

*For people who haven't subscribed to the other thread*
The plan is:
Meet up at Central Station, in the Governor. If you are facing the platforms (back to the main entrance) this is on your right hand side. It's up a flight of stairs and opposite a restaurant. The bar looks out over the station concourse. Time - say 12 noon. (could maybe bump this back it people need more time to travel?)
Tootle out to SECC and thence GSC via low-level train.
GSC prices: Single adult: tower £5.50, science mall £6.50, double ticket £9.50
Or for groups of 10 or more: tower £3.50, science mall £3.50, double ticket £6.50. )And if we can't get a group of 10 together, we ain't trying.)
Have Fun(TM). Try and stop Wumbie base-jumping off tower. Or at least make sure he has a parachute on
Get to Byres road somehow. If we are out in time (when Rangers are playing) then take the underground. If not possibly train from SECC to Partick station and walk from there. Or possibly walk if weather is good - it's not that far, honest. The alternative would be to take the train back to Central and go to a city centre pub (maybe the Counting house).
Grab food somewhere. I'd suggest Tennants for this, their grub is pretty good and they are close to Hillhead station. There is also a BK, pizza place, etc.
From there, I'm sure we can work something out...

Great! I have to get a budget for us prepared in triplicate, signed eight times, with forty-two authorisation codes on it. Knowing where I'm supposed to be going will help!
