We have to have proof that the product was made in an approved commercial kitchen and a list of ingredients. It's too much of a hassle. It's easier to buy something mass produced. But he kids suffer because the home made treats are always healthier, as they are made without preservatives and chemical dyes, etc. And the home made stuff tastes better. I cheated this summer when I took in the rock cakes. Bad librarian.

Well, I agree with ice cream being one of the major food groups. (The others are tea, chocolate and cheese. And cheesecake is nirvana on a plate.)
now I'm hungry...

With a nice cup of tea.
I once saw a recipe for a cheesecake that had an entire pecan pie inside it! That was some cheesecake. (I could feel my arteries slamming shut as I read.) My family's favourite pecan pie recipe is actually half pecan pie and half cheesecake. (It was one of those Pillsbury contest winners.) It's out of this world, and the cheese helps cut the sweetness of the typical pecan pie.
Ah, baking: one of the few consolations of cold weather...

I would love to have that recipe. Cheesecake and pecan pie are two of my favorite things. I have a pumpkin cheesecake recipe for Thanksgiving.

Mystery Pecan Pie:

My mother fiddled a bit with the recipe. (I think she reduced the amount of sugar so that the pie wouldn't be so sweet. And of course she was a purist: she made her own crust. None of this refrigerated stuff for her!)
As you can probably guess from the picture, the corn syrup mixture works its way to the bottom while baking but leaves the pecans on top. Hence the name.

Looks lovely. I love baking, but I'm useless at pastry, so if I have a go (and I might), I'm afraid I'll be using the ready-made stuff. Sorry.
