Cartesian coordinates:
1 : either of two coordinates that locate a point on a plane and measure its distance from either of two intersecting straight-line axes along a line parallel to the other axis
2 : any of three coordinates that locate a point in space and measure its distance from any of three intersecting coordinate planes measured parallel to that one of three straight-line axes that is the intersection of the other two planes

Somebody called?
Cartesion coordinates can easily be extended to 4 or more dimensions, so perhaps your definition should read:
For an integral n>2, any of n coordinates that locate a point in n-space and measure its distance from any of n intersecting coordinate (n-1)-planes measured parallel to that one of n straight-line axes that is the intersection of the other n-1 planes.

I refuse to read post six as well.
Voting has commenced, though. A5889261
Take a close look. Let's not have any hanging chads, or hanging hyps for that matter, eh? I'm about to cast my ballot now.

So I noticed. I'm voting now. It's difficult to rank the candidates, 'cept for number 1 of course.

I found that too. I didn't get to talk to near enough of the people to make an accurate decision.
It's also kind of odd voting for 15 people, knowing that 14 of them will be disappointed. Ok, well, maybe 5 who actually spent some time campaigning. But still.

Aye, I don't know if I should vote for those I know or bother reading the campaign platforms. I reckon most will manage to live with the disappointment of not winning.

We'd get over not winning. 'tis just virtual after all.
Actually, some of the folks I've known longer are low on my preferences list Just goes to show how this election helps us meet one another - I've met several folks who've impressed me.

I think you must have been paying more attention than I have. Apart from yourself I don't think I've got to know many new researchers.

Bagpuss Posted Sep 26, 2005
True dat. I've voted now, so I'll stop worrying.
Say, will Croz announce the percentages or just the winner. Someone might be a bit miffed if only 1% of researchers put them down.

I'll stop worrying too.
I have no idea. They announced the number of votes last time around. (the winner had a measly 31... must have been quite an intimate little election).

Why did they move the vote up to September?
Well, win or lose, it's been a hoot! Cider and brownies for everyone if we win and the old Hillbilly Salute for them if we don't.

I voted and for Hypatia. May the candidate with the most votes, win.
