Well, I can't see John Hurt as a butch feminist icon, can you?
And anyway, the franchise would have been *so* much shorter as Ripley's far too sensible to go messing about with any naughty bug-eyed creatures in dank, dark and mist-filled catacombs under alien spacecraft.
