Talking Point: Jim'll Fix It!

30 Conversations

Do you remember the programme Jim'll Fix it1 presented by Sir Jimmy Saville OBE2. For those unfamiliar with the concept, the idea was to write a letter to Jimmy asking him to 'fix it' so that a lifetime's dream came true. During transmission the show received an amazing 4800 letters per day.

'Fix Its' arranged for people included; blowing up a cooling tower, flying with the Royal Air Force, polishing a python, and appearing in a specially written episode of Dr Who. One young lad got to drive the Lotus from The Spy Who Loved Me. How cool is that?

So, if you could ask for something to be 'fixed' for you what would it be? Tea with the Queen? A jam session with Eric Clapton? Or something else3?

Let us know what you dream of doing. You never know who might be listening...

1Ready for a real hit of nostalgia? Listen to the theme tune of 'Jim'll Fix It'. Doesn't that just remind you of tea-time on a Sunday afternoon?2Jimmy Saville was also famous for running marathons and raising huge sums of money for Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He was a regular hospital visitor, ex-Top of the Pops DJ and member of Mensa.3I've just been asked to 'fix it' so that there's a link to the Jim'll Fix It Edited Guide entry!
