Some notable similarities between our 2 favorite martyrs.

Their deaths were engineered to make us hate the main vilian even more.

Their "special moves" were tough to lose. (I found Aeris's healing wind limit break to be quite useful, because I was always poor and couldn't afford potions. And Leo's special command... I can't remember what it was called, but it was *powerful*!)

People on the Internet have been clamoring for a way to "legitimately" (ie: No Gameshark or Game Genie) resurrect them since the releases of their two games.

I thought your article was well-written and thoughtful. I good testament to a classic game! And the spoliers weren't *too* bad, although if you know Leo (or, indeed, Aeris) is going to die, it takes a lot away from the game. However, I think that since its re-release on the Playstation, just about everyone who wants to play it already has and the "spoliers" are pretty much common knowledge. It's always good to play it safe, though. You never know who's gonna be upset because they heard the smallest detail of a game's plot before they played it. (Me, I've always succumbed to temptation and read a plot synopsis before the game... I read the last chapter of mystery novels first, too. What can I say? I have no willpower.)

PS: I'd have to cast my vote for Terra as the main character. She is the catylist that causes the other game events to occur and since you are in her shoes first, I think you identify with her the most. Then again, I'm a girl. Fellows out there might cast their vote for Locke or Edgar.

Hey, I'm a guy, and /I/ think Terra's more "main" than some, too.

And I succumb to synopsis-reading, too. I once read a fan-made script of Mega Man Legends 2, and I don't even /have/ it yet.

Yeah, those synopsis things are tough to resist. I love being able to hint at things when someone talks about a game.

Ex: Friend: "Man, Aeris sucks *so* much! Her stupid little staff does like, no damage at all! And her limit breaks are awful."

Me: "Huh. Then I guess you won't mind."

Friend: "What?"

Me: "Never mind."

The funniest part is when she actually *does* get killed, even players who hated her are devestated and want to get Sephiroth back for his actions.

Square sure has some great storytellers.

WORSE THAN SAY ARIES DYING WAS THE DEATH OF.. LAVITZ! IN L.O.D. YOU FIND THAT HE IS THE STRONGEST, FASTEST, BEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME... THEN IN A CONFRONTATION WITH A HOODED MAN... THE GUY IS SLICED AND DICED THROUGH THE CHEST WHEN HE CHARGES THE GUY AND COLLAPSES TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE DRAGON BUSTER IS USED ONE HIM... THE ONLY TIME I'VE SHOUTED 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' ALONG WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER 'DART' WHICH WAS HALFWAY THROUGH DISK ONE!!!

Suit yourself. Never played LoD. But have you ever heard of lowercase letters? There handy in getting people to pay much attention to what you're saying.

THE CAPITALS STAND OUT MORE...


JUST GOT FINAL FANTASY IV/V....

AND IV HAS THE WORST CHARACTER EVER!!!!!

SO UTTERLY USELESS, SHE GETS KO'd AND THUS MAKING IT HARD TO LEVEL THAT USELESS SUMMONER UP....ARGH!!!!!!

The capitals are also more annoying.

Yeah, it gives the impression of shouting when there's an exclaimation point at the end of sentences and of an emotionless computer or robot when there's a period or question mark.
