Here is the combination I have found for my no. 1356574
1+3x5+6+5+7+4=42 a fairly easy one I think, but it took me the whole weekend to work out.

Because of 'rules' governing precedence that make multiplication more 'important' than addition ...
1+ 3x5 +6+5+7+4 is the same as
1+(3x5) +6+5+7+4 which is 38 
But...
(1+3) x 5 + 6 + 5 + 7 + 4 = 42
