Hi!
Actually, I thought of that coming back wone morning from the bakery... just over 2 years ago. Anyway. A very nice way for U55226 is
5*5*2-2-6 = 42
No brackets, no nothing, just * * - -

You thought about what?

How to get 42 from 55226. Seemed like the most obvious thing to figure out when I joined h2g2. Had it on my first Uspace version. Pity that it's no longer there to show around.

Aha - and I thought other people only started doing it during Rupert!

Well... my first Uspace version would have been there from Sept. 1999 to maybe end of 1999 (wild guess). Don't think many people saw that. It sure wasn't popular before Rupert.
I did state that 5*5*2-2-6=42 during Rupert, Not sure whether I started the whole thing, though.
Can the Rupert stuff be accessed somewhere?

Is there a chance to change the version listed for my Unumber to
5*5*2-6-6 ?
That would be really nice as I always use that version and then it would be in line with what is staed here.
Thanks!

OOOh what happened there - wasn't able to action my request for a while....
Tube, I'd LOVE to add your new version of your 42ism, that is if I could somehow bend the laws of mathematics to make 50 - 12 = 42....

Argh!
I seem to remember my U-Number now... it's not 55266 but 55226 thuis being
5*5*2-2-6 = 50-8 = 42
Sorry for that.
