how many 42s do you have (I have at least 3 in the right order and one more if I move the 2 to the end)?
Is it legal to change the order of the digits? I think shouldn't be not too illegal, also, is inverse tangent allowed?
These are big issues, so I'd love to get answers.

I've got 14 at the moment, and someone somewhere had over 50. I think changing the order of digits would make it too easy, and would also mean that the ways you can form 42 would be the same as the ways someone with a permutation of your U#. Invtan is dogier than quite a lot of things, but there are only degrees of 'dodgy' - I don't think there is a precise cutoff point, beyond which are only invalid ways to get to 42.

Things like Concatenation (after a calculation) are right out, as are Rounding, and moving digits around......
Unless of course a User No. can't be done anyother way....

Yes.
Thus:
U42 (DNA) is 42
and
U170714 (tabitca - just because I can see the No. on screen at the mo) could be
= 1 *7 + 7*(1+4) - whoops that doesn't include concat... Wait a mo...

Ok here's one:
U166086 = 16 - 60 + 86 = 42 [GTBacchus]
1&6 Concat to 16
6&0 Concat to 60
8&6 concat to 86
usw....

My number's nice, I just sat down for 10 minutes and found 37 ways to get 42. And that was only using 6 x 7!
