A Conversation for Project: The American Revolutionary War
OK, so I've sort of lost control...

I'll admit that my bit of the project has now 'officially' spun out of control...
Here's a progress report:
General 'Mad' Anthony Wayne - done
Molly Pitcher - done
George Washington - working
Marquis de Lafayette - working
Baron Friedrich Von Steuben - working
Battle of New York - not started yet
Washington's Retreat from New York - working
Washington's Crossing of the Delaware River - done
Battles of Trenton and Princeton, New Jersey - working
British Capture of Philadelphia - done
Battle of Brandywine - done
The Paoli Massacre - done
Battle of Germantown - done
Battle of the Barrels - done
The Winter at Valley Forge - done
Battle of Monmouth, New Jersey - done
Battle of Stony Point, New York - done
Battle of Springfield, New Jersey - done
Do you want to look over these things and see if there's anything I've missed?
Also, do you think perhaps Mikey should start Subbing some of these so she doesn't simply collapse when she gets the whole load at once?

Geez... take a couple of days off, and this is my reward... patience, my man... patience...

Jimi X Posted Jul 24, 2001
Patience? I've got my own University project to finish next month...
Of course all that it requires yet is my playing a couple rounds of golf.
Obviously I added a couple of pages about some stuff I found interesting. And I simply couldn't leave Molly Pitcher out of the mix as she's a famous Pennsylvanian.
It looks like I've got six more to do for you and I've got most of the research done on a couple of them.
I'm really dreading the one about George Washington...

The one on the Quebec invasion isn't too fun, either. And I've signed up to contribute to another project. It isn't as fun as yours... it's on radar.
Too much work, too much desire to goof off and not get any of it done...
OK, so I've sort of lost control...
Jimi X Posted Jul 24, 2001
I've seen fringes of the radar stuff - it looks pretty intense.
And don't forget that you're doing the Southern Revolutionary campaigns and the naval stuff...

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Jul 24, 2001
Unlike you, I try to work on only one piece at a time.
This Quebec thing is holding me up a bit, though. It won't matter if I set it aside, though, because Southern Capaign is going to be huge, like the Hudson Campaign piece, because it will cover several battles. The naval stuff is also going to require a huge amount of research. I'm only moving three stones right now, but they're huge.
As for the radar stuff, the good thing is that I can spew off that stuff off the top of my head. Anything that requires real research, I'm foisting off on others. I'm only a contributor to that one, after all... someone else has to be in charge.

You're not going to like this, but all I can say is that I'm sorry...
... I've opted out of producing Guide content, or any other contributions, for personal reasons. That means that this project is, effectively, over. You're welcome to try to finish it on your own, of course, or push your entries through Peer Review instead. My contributions to this project are now filled with dross.
Now who's gone mad?
OK, so I've sort of lost control...

I was wondering when this would happen. You've been close to the edge for a couple of weeks eh?
That's a shame because I really enjoyed your stuff a lot.
*waves bye-bye to a lot of good Guide content*
Are you planning to stick around or are you going to take some time away as well?
Instead of trying to redo all your stuff, I'm probably going to surrender. Though I did enjoy the Pete Rose reference.
Did you know that the only time Washington surrendered, it was in Pennsylvania on July 4 at a little place outside of Jumonville called Fort Necessity?
Heh. I had to leave you with a random bit of Pennsylvania trivia from the French and Indian War.
C-ya!

I was teetering for much longer than that, which is why I'd been working so much more slowly on the project as time passed.
I was having a lot of fun rewriting those entries. Do you think they could be edited as they stand?
At any rate, I was proud of my ability to tie together Boston Harbor, Pete Rose, and Senator Joe McCarthy in just a few lines.
I'll still be here. I'll just be acting the role that was chosen for me... party guest.

Jimi X Posted Aug 20, 2001
What kind of party guest drops a full bottle of beer?
At every party I've ever been at, the only bottles with beer in them also contain cigarette butts. *That's* OK to drop, but a full bottle?
Pick that up and make it go away - then maybe you can puke in a closet or something.

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Aug 20, 2001
I kicked it under the couch... what *else* do you want?
I didn't mean to drop it (that's alcohol abuse) but as long as someone else is paying for it, I can go ahead and get another one.
Key: Complain about this post
