What's happened to the WAP services? Will they still be available?

As I didn't get a reply, I asked the same question in the Testers' forum, which did get a response. Apparently, BBC Online doesn't "do" WAP, so now neither does h2g2. Which is shame, because it was one of the most (potentially at least) exciting features!

Surely they can ditch WAP can they. I thought it was part of the whole h2g2 access information anywhere kind of theory. I dont remember anyone having to carry a PC round with them in the hitchhiker books - they had the hhgttg - and ive got my WAP phone.
Isn't it weird how the BBC featured the h2g2 site on the Tommorrows World episode showcasing WAP phones - saying how good is was to access information on the move , but are unwilling to continue the service now they have taken it over ?

Anyone tried this as text only through a PDA yet? I'm gonna give it a go see what happens - Auntie Beeb usually has text only versions of her sites...

It didn't like "Alabaster" for some reason, so use "Goo"...
NOTE TO MODERATOR: Please note the previous posting was not intended as an advert, merely technical details of my own solution to the Mobile H2G2 Problem until WAP service is/isn't resumed, without having to lug about a whopping great laptop... cheers Mark
