I was starting to think that I may be alone in my panic state. I am used to h2g2 and am not so keen on change. I worry that it will be made more difficult to post, write for etc...I'm pleased I'm not alone
So pleased to see Lil again ...she's great

We understand your fears but hope you won't panic too much Opti/Jack. One of the main aims behind this refresh is to make it *easier* to contribute. It's not the easiest place in the world to get the hang of and we hope that by updating the design we can make it easier. All suggestions greatly appreciated.

I like the idea of making it easier, but "dumming down" is not a good thing.............. i've been on this site for a long time for a good reason, cus it ain't "dummed down" I like the challenge of the "profanny filter" 
as it's nice to get one over on it!

You will be glad to know we don't have any intention of 'dumbing down.' Just a sympathetic visual refresh, which we hope will make it less of a challenge to sign up/contribute/enjoy the site.
(The profanity filter is outside the scope of the redesign. )

I'm glad your not "dumming down" as this site is just about right, I like the use of proper spelling's (not text speak, and that should be dis'ed big time) 
Also I would like to be able to use one photo on my "My space" page! a "squib" / "firework" smiley! colour too I'ed like to have a few more colour option!

I certainly have no objection the second part of that sentence. Of course, ease of navigation is essential to meet those goals.
However, calling this effort a 'sympathetic visual refresh' like it's a little spit and polish and then mentioning elsewhere the likelihood of sacking ~all~ of the existing skins sounds like mutually exclusive actions to me. I realize this is all in the exploration stage at this point, but really!

right then, I have decided that change is no good! I am going to start a campain to stop change on h2 *at this point he stamps his foot* pah! The difficulties of this place is what makes it so enjoyible, the small frustrations gives the hootoo'er something to grump about.............. long live the grump

Hello Ed's
Well there is not a single question......... more like a feeling, I ain't too sure why but I feel a bit of a "C8ck up on the IT front" or a "Ginger moment" happening. and I don't really want the "old place to change" I like the fact it has "feel" to it, like a comphy pair of slippers, they may be "a bit on the nose" and your heels poke out of the back of them, but you just can't throw them away just yet....
