A Conversation for Daytime Television
A ray of hope?

One ray of hope in the murky backstreet that is daytime television is the wonderful programme "Bargain Hunt". It's presenter, the vivid David Dickinson, is one of those very rare TV people; a genuine character. He has had a life for many years outside of television and therefore has something the likes of Zoe Ball and Jamie Theakston lack; true life experience. He has introduced a fabulous phrase into the English language, namely "cheap as chips", and it is his enthusiasm which transforms an otherwise mundane televisual experience into something more; something that entertains, informs and impinges itself on your consciousness.
He was recently interviewed on the lamentable Johnny Vaughn show and shone like a beacon in the mist. At one stage himself and Robbie Coltrane had a discussion about collecting model ships and the self publicist Vaughn simply could not get a word in - and ended up looking like the rank amatuer he is.
Anyway - that's my opinion, and I recommend anyone who doubts me to watch the programme and experience the full glory that is "Bargain Hunt".

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
