I've just had a look at this and it seems pretty damn fine to me. A little bit more factual info in the history section would be useful (a few dates, characters etc - Cortes? Was he around bashing the Native Indians?).
Also, while the outside links you've added are useful, I'd say that there are so many of them they might actually serve to distact the reader away from you've written. I'd be tempted to be a bit more selective with these links.
I like the 'easy' tone of this entry and overall, it's a great start that needs just a little tweaking here and there.

Well, I've bulked up the history section a bit. It was fun, and I learned some history, so that's great. I took out, like, one link, but I can't bring myself to remove any of the others, although I agree that there are a lot.
I do wonder whether there is a convention or policy or anything regarding popup links versus the other kind. I used popups for outside links and non-popups for guide entry links, but that was just an arbitrary thing.
Do you think this is ready for Peer Review?
