Kubrick honoured for a lifetime's work
Stanley Kubrick who sadly died days after delivering
his last film Eyes Wide Shut won the support of the h2g2
Academy of Film to be the first recipient of first Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented by the Academy. HAL, who received
the reward on behalf of the man behind 2001: A Space Oddessy, A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket and other great movies, said, via a computer terminal;
'This is great, but look out for my lifetime achievement next year.'
Two Films Share the spoils
Of the four awards for acting and that for Best Picture, two Hollywood blockbuster's cleaned the boards. Kevin Spacey and Annette
Benning took the honours for Best Actor and Actress for their roles in
American Beauty. Whilst the Supporting PETA's went to
young Haley Joel Osmet and Toni Colette for their roles
in The Sixth Sense. American Beauty also received the nod for
best picture, however, the other nominees in this category surprised the
critics. Also with their names on the envelope were Run Lola Run, Toy Story
II, and South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.
In all 58 researchers voted for the various categories!
