Entry: Cannibalism: A Diet of the Future - A49373210
Author: Tibley Bobley - U170471
This is here again by request of h2g2 Editors - because I removed it, thinking it wasn't suitable. It was recommended by the Scouts for inclusion in the Edited Guide on 15 April - then I removed it before they had the chance to slap a notice on it. Sorry Anyway, the latest email from the Eds says I should resubmit it and say could a Scout re-pick it. Here's the recommended version: A50670281 - ready to go if I hadn't messed up

The recommended version *is* ready for editing by a sub-ed. It's under the control of Antelia (that's Nats, an Ed!) why does your entry need to be resubmitted to PR?

D'know. I'm mystified.
I'm still at work and the email's on a different computer, or I'd check and tell you exactly what it says.

It's possible different Eds don't realise your entry was recommended under Antelia's own account (it's usually "h2g2 support") - perhaps best to wait until the Towers reopens on Tuesday and see what the Ed-on-duty has to say then

That makes sense. Probably is just a misunderstanding. I'll email them on Tuesday. Sensible suggestion GB

Now look what's happened. This has been sitting peacefully on my page for 2 months, giving nobody any trouble and now it's been hidden because, apparently, it has started to "contravene" h2g2's house rules. Another mysterious entry has also appeared and promptly disappeared in my list of entries too. I'm guessing that'll be the pending version of this one - and what's the betting that that's what woke the moderators. ing

A50670281 is the one on my A47168553 and yes, it's the pending version of this.
Unfortunately that's an area of h2g2 I am not part of, nor can I offer anything by way of news.
If you get an email will you let me know?

The gatepost's just reminded me of something Pin said about our defence of the indefensible challenge. Didn't he say that none of us met it - or something like that? I guess someone must have decided cannibalism really is indefensible and possibly, that I made too good a job of defending it
Lawyers eh? I must try to resist the sin of pride
Or maybe it's just that I called politicians a bunch of wasters in this entry, and there's an election tomorrow?

Yeah, you were all a bunch of pussies
My over this particular issue won't help, because my cards are marked. All I can say is that IMO the worst thing about h2g2 is that the BBC seems determined to discourage writing with edge.
I think we need an official Badge of Honour for those who've ruffled the Towers. In the meantime, this is the best on offer, but you've earned it: A1060084

Same thing happened to other entries in the past, some I subbed, the How to conduct an Exorcism entry for one. I can think of others. It's wrong to put the blame on the Eds (if that's what you mean by The Towers) when it's them who were vetoed in this case. I do think the Eds' hands are tied by the constraints of BBC legislation. TB's entry made it past PR, the mods, and was accepted by the Eds. The last hurdle post-subbing pre-publication is the lawyers, (I assume, BBC employees) - if there's anything remotely sueable then they will negate.
(I hasten to add these are *my* sole thoughts, I know not why the Entry has disappeared - it may reappear!)

No no no, not our Eds. Our Eds are Mostly Harmless, yeah?
I assumed that the phrase "the Towers" referred to those bizarre and twisted creatures who inhabit Room 4225, the despicable Ed Pol.
I sent them a copy of a rather good book about the media and the Miners' Strike, and they never said thank you, let alone relented over putting Orgreave into the Edited Guide (only a fortnight to the anniversary, so too late now).
4225 is a profoundly evil number, of course. 4225 has 13 as a factor TWICE. It also has 5 as a factor twice, and the number 5 has haunted me ever since a hurtful relative told me that my bar of "5 Boys" chocolate really had been made by processing those five distraught-looking boys on the wrapper.
I also happen to know that 4225 is Bin Laden's PIN. There, you have been told.

I've grabbed my shiny new badge (restraining myself only with difficulty - because it's rude to snatch) and it's now adorning my page and looking rather splendid thank you very much

Glad you like it TB.
You should change the link from it, though (I carelessly left that one hooked to one of my rants - sorry)
It could connect to this thread, or better to a non-Edited re-posting of the original Entry. If you create one and leave it out of PR this time, it might not get yikesed.

It's the 'Order of the Velvet Gauntlet' badge GB - further down my page. It fits in nicely with the colour scheme (I see it in alabaster and it looks very fine).
Okay Pin, I've changed the link to this conversation. If they ever put the cannibalism entry back, people might wonder why it ever disappeared... or not
Otherwise, I'll wait a bit and see if I can unobtrusively put the original one back, when the dear old fuss-pots have forgotten all about it. Do they normally tell the researcher when they've made their final decision, or should I go and ask what the problem is?

OK, I was looking for bona-fide badges
You *should* get an email if it's removedbut it could just be in a queue. You can always ask at EF, make it "attention Eds" in the title though, or you can email them at [email protected]
