Nice. There are a couple of typos:
'is fully pretected by the rights' - protected
'The organisation id easily recognised' - is
You could possibly mention The Secret Policeman's Ball(s) as well.

I'm not sure but I think you should stick an AI in brackets after the first mention of Amnesty International, just to clarify the abbreviation.
Here you are, well on your way to a 25 entries badge, and here I am with my first sitting in PR. I must pull my finger out.

Good point, roymondo.
I'm desperate for that badge now! If this gets in it will be number 16. I'm sure you'll get there! Tell you what, I'll go and comment on your entry!

Hi Elentari,
Dunno if you want to work this in but Salisbury Cathedral has a 'Prisoners of Conscience' window in the Trinity Chapel at the east end. This striking blue glass window was designed by Gabrielle Loire from Chartres, France in 1980. There is a candle for Amnesty International and the details on the adopted Prisoners of Conscience just below this window.

The first thing that struck me is that the footnote beside 'Amnesty International' looks like part of the same link. It might be better to put AI in brackets instead.
ellknown comics - typo
Peter Benenson's name is mispelled too.

Thanks for all the comments. Typos etc duly ammended, and I've added proper defintions of prisoners of conscience and political prisoners from the AI webstite. They're in italics and blockqoutes, but I can't remember whether that's house style or not. Anyone know?
Thanks for the info on Salisbury Cathedral. I'd like to include it, but I'm not sure how or where. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful. Cheers!

Yes, I think that's fine.
One little error: 'volent' in the first quote.
Well done on this very concise and well-written Entry.

'Thanks for the info on Salisbury Cathedral. I'd like to include it, but I'm not sure how or where. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful'.
Maybe just a para which says, baldly, that Salisbury Cathedral has a window designed by..... dedicated to Prisoners of Consvcience, and below this window is the Amnesty International candle (then hyperlink it to the picture)

My Sometimes you use 'Amnesty International' but mostly you use AI. I think it looks best to write it in full every time, i.e. Amnesty International'.

I think I would put a header of 'Salisbury Cathedral' right at the end (i.e. after 'Recognition' - which would be quite appropriate) and then put the info in.
I did search a few sites to try and discover the circumstances by which Salisbury Cathedral commisioned the window, but to no avail.

Good stuff! It's about time there was an Entry on Amnesty International.
Did you know that h2g2 ran an Amnesty International Petition (A455528) in support of AI when the Stop Torture campaign was launched? The Entry on Torture (A453296) made its debut at that time.
I think it would be useful if you stressed the idea that the strength of AI is ordinary people getting involved, not just a hard core of volunteers. In other words, you don't have to be an AI member to participate in Action Alerts, and so on. You might also stress that letter writing really does work and has saved many lives.
Cheers,
JTG

Problem! The Salisbury Cathedral website variously describes the name of the window- designer as Gabrielle and Gabriel.

Ok, I've linked to the torture entry, added a few mre bits including the Cathedral - though not where you suggested, I'm afraid. I haven't changed the AI's to Amnesty International's because I think it would be too much. But thanks for you're comments everyone.

This is really a very good article. The only thing was (without being too much of a troll) that it made me wonder about current events...what does AI have to say about Guantanamo, Iraq and Afganistan, for example? The Palestiians?...I can understand that you might prefer to gloss over current events, but objective reporting here might add some weight and substance.
