KC Masterpiece Great Barbecue!!

I'll start by telling some of the things I remember about the beginnings of KC Materpiece. In the early or mid '80's, Rich Davis, who won numerous awards here in KC at the local, although HUGE, barbecue competition, opened up the restaurant, shortly after that, the barbecue sauce made it's debut in the supermarkets in Kansas City. The restaurants soon expanded to several locations, including St Louis.
Maybe 10 years ago, early '90s?, Mr Davis sold the recipe and name KC Masterpiece to a company who markets the sauce in the US. He did, however retain the Restaurant Chain.
All above is purely unverified. Solely relying on my memory alone. Their web site would be the best place to research their history.

Interesting tidbit: The walls here at the KC Masterpiece in Overland Park, Kansas, are covered with pictures of Mr Davis with celebrities. Everyone loves BBQ. I could probably drop by there today, or someday, and provide a short list some of these.
Any questions for them? I can ask. Maybe I'll see if Mr Davis would be interested in an interview. But I make absolutely no promises to this effect.

Wow!
Hey, if you're going to go to all that trouble then you might be better off writing the article instead of me.
Just copy and paste what I wrote and start your own entry- I won't mind, I've done a few of my own already smiley - smiley
It's been done before too.

As for information from their website, I didn't want to make the entry a replica of what they have, especially as I link to it anyway. There's an importat hint for wrting articles. hey, I'm full of useful hints! smiley - biggrin

How's things going ayway? smiley - angel

I would probably never finish it. I make a much better research assistant. But thanks for offering. (Confidentially, I don't eat cows or pigs, so I really can't speak knowingly about it.)

I'm not a vegetarian, I will eat fish and fowl. But when I used to say 'I don't eat red meat', I would always get 'Will you eat alligator, or kangaroo, or .......?' Oh, and my personal fave 'Pork isn't red meat, it's "the other white meat"'(FYI commercial slogan). I don't give a .....! I still won't eat it!

Michele - Doily Mogul: Don't leave me! If you go there'll be no braincells in the room at all!

There's just nothing like barbeque brisket, pork, ham or turkey, slathered in KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce, that melts in your mouth... I live in Overland Park, and we eat at that KC Masterpiece restaurant every couple of months. The food is consistantly awesome! But hey - it's not just the barbeque, the mashed potatoes and gravy are fab also!

And don't even get me started on the heavenly baked beans...
