A Conversation for The Stretcher

Can I make a plea?

Is it possible to include the current challenge at the top of these pages, ie so we know why we're reading the pieces we're reading? Otherwise one has to search back to the last edition of smiley - thepost and find the relevant page. Some of us need such help - we're only lowly voters y'know smiley - winkeye

(Someone is now going to point out that I've missed a glaringly obvious bit of text somewhere which does just what I'm asking for...and I'm going to claim tiredMummydom smiley - tongueout)

You mean the completed challenge?
At the bottom of the page, there is the Stretcher Archive link, just click on it and you have all articles on one page. smiley - ok

I agree with Jules. We know someone is off to the Gambia but we have absolutely no idea what the Stretcher Challenge was that prompted these entries. Can I also request a short sentence at the start that says "This weeks challenge was..."

1st challenge (08.01):

>>an 'open' challenge, which means that you can submit it to AWW or PR depending on your preference. It can be written in any style you like, poetry or prose, as long as the word 'Shell' appears in the title.<<

2nd challenge (22.01):
>>This challenge involves writing a Peer Review piece about something you consider emotionally overblown. You can pick any subject matter you like, but it must be something that the unwashed masses get all worked up about in one way or another. Go prick a balloon with your rationality.<<

3rd challenge (05.02):

A love poem, based on >>the adjectives you used before the first three nouns in your 'emotionally overblown' piece last time<<

4th challenge (19.02):

>>The piece must be a minimum of 20 sentences in length and it must be written in prose, since poetry would be a bit samey two weeks in succession.

There's just one further necessity. The last word of every sentence must contain a double letter.<<

Currently (05.03): no challenge

Hope that helps for the moment. smiley - ok

We're learning as we go, of course.
We judges sort-of agreed not to label Entries as Stretcher Entries, conforming to this or that challenge, because we wanted Entries to be strong enough to stand on their own merits in PR or AWW.
Certainly no Scout or Miner should be deciding to pick a Stretcher Entry because it's got some double-letter cleverness or similar. They should be picking because it will grace the Edited Guide or the UnderGuide.
The biggest problem we've missed might be the disappearance of Entries from fora once picked, meaning that they then slip out of view for Stretcher voting purposes.
So maybe this is an opportunity to promote Stretcher voting. If you are a Scout or a Miner, or a general Researcher who enjoys what you find in these fora, take a look at the Post, check the current Stretcher Entries and vote for your favourite.
The Stretcher is bringing plenty of good Entries to both PR and the AWW right now. Vigorous public voting will help that continue, as well as encouraging our brave and talented participants.

I agree. Having to find the bottom of last week's stretcher in order to remind oneself of this week's challenge is mildly annoying.
