As a Dane I have of course tasted my share of Gammel Dansk.
I like it, especially on a cold day in order to give the warmth from inside.
However, I have not had the pleasure of any Gammel Dansk for a considerable time, and I don't actually miss it. Maybe I should go the the Commision's supermarket and buy a bottle, just to revive the taste for the stuff.
Anyways, I like the article, I think it gives a good indication of what Gammel Dansk is and how it is best used, i.e. drunk whenever you think the occasion is right, just remember the warning about its wobbling side-effects.

I'll second that! But it is a strong opinion of a lifelong girlfriend of mine that the taste has been made more "popular" somewhere along the line - and the new taste is not popular with her! She really liked the old taste better. Well, what can I say? I'm certainly not the one to argue with her! 
You should also know that the former amtsborgmester (county mayor) of the island Bornholm recommended a blend of equal parts of Gammel Dansk and camphorated spirits for the morning after the night before. I haven't had the chance to try it myself, but a coworker has - and he was very convinced of the effect!

Jeezz that sounds like a tough mixture... Much as I like "en lille en" (sorry 'bout the language there!), I wouldn't dare that...!
BTW, speaking of using GD for repairs, I once travelled with a bunch of colleagues back from a week's sales meetings held in Mallorca, Spain (tough job, but somebody had to do it 
). In the plane on a very early Saturday morning, we had GDs to try to do something about the effects of the late night preceeding the flight. After staring on his glass for 5 minutes, one of my collegues sighed and said "I just can't..."
Now, that's what I call severe hangovers 
!
