Thanks Danny. I've changed the link and removed the footnote
Sounds as though you had a tottering time there for a while when you were a baby Malabarista. Makes you wonder how things might have turned out if you hadn't grown up on a farm. I thought about the psychological angle, with the mania for cleanliness affecting things like OCD. But I didn't want the thing to wander too widely. I know what you mean about loos away from home. I remember a few hair raising lavs in Egypt, where the tourist busses stop for comfort breaks at places where they have western facilities but no - or not enough - plumbers to keep them in good repair. But however squalid and swimming in sewage they might be, there comes a point of desperation where waiting till you get home, ain't an option

I shudder to think. I'd not have had and to cuddle!
There's a trend in Germany to invent new insults for "soft" men - things like "Warmduscher" (warm showerer, as opposed to hot or cold) and one of them is "Heimscheißer" - person wh sh!ts only at home.

Oh, I recognise that. I think if we spoke the same language the Germans and the English would be the same people. My brother is a merciless Mickey-taker of anyone who won't go behind a tree or hedge if they're out walking or bird-watching. And anyone who wraps up for the Arctic as soon as there's a slight chill in the air - anyone who takes sensible precautions even

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Hi there Tibley
I've just finished sub-editing your entry, the 'Recommended' version of which you can find at A47629524
I've actually rewritten the immune system bit quite extensively, making it shorter and adding much more detail. It can easily be changed, so please let me know what you think.

Thanks Alex
That looks mostly fine. I'm happy with your immune system bit, except for one little thing. Other than that, three other teeny alterations.
In the first section, if you wouldn't mind:
"Unfortunately, the world is full of it."
Remove "Unfortunately".
"Some diseases will actually kill you,"
Remove "actually".
In footnote 1, please:
"the viruses and bacteria that cause diseases are also parasites in a sense."
Remove "in a sense".
In the immune system section:
"The immune system has been evolving for millions of years"
Change "millions" back to "billions".
Hope that's okay with you.

Changes good! Thank you
You shouldn't encourage natural-born nit-pickers. It's just asking for trouble
Just another little tweak before you tuck this one away.
Could you change:
"Some diseases will kill you, and many adopt the policy of being better safe than sorry.
To:
"Some diseases will kill you, so it's quite understandable that many people consider it better to be safe than to be sorry."
And (sorry) I meant to mention the bit you added at then end: "- if your table has more germs than your toilet seat and you still survive the day, you can feel vindicated in your decision."
I know it was on QI a couple of nights ago, but I just wonder if someone reading it (having missed that QI programme) might scratch their head and furrow their brow, puzzled: what would lead a person to attempt such a comparison - and how could they make the measurement
But in all other respects, absolutely
