• Do you drink 'responsibly'? How much do you drink? Do you think you might drink too much? Do you care?
• Did you give up drinking for January? Do you believe in de-toxing?
• If you do drink, why do you drink? What's your tipple of choice? Conversely, if you don't drink, why not?
• Do you think we drink too much as a nation? Do we drink differently to, say, the Italians or folk in Europe in general? Are we more 'northern European' in our drinking habits? If so, why is this?
• Have our drinking habits changed over the years? Do we drink differently now than when we did in the 1970s?
• Are folk drinking more at home these days due to cheaper supermarket booze? Is this a bad thing?
• Is pub culture dying off?
• What are the best and worst things about drinking?

1. I like to think I drink ‘responsibly’, yes- given that a pitcher of peach schnapps, Fanta and Smirnoff is ‘responsible’ in my world then of course. I don't know how much I drink [I never look at the units or anything] but I do know that it depends on my mood and whether I want to get drunk or not. I might drink too much for my own good, yes and sometimes I don't give a damn

2. No, I did not give up drinking for January and I don't believe in detoxing- pile of crap.

3. Why do I drink? I do it for reasons that many alcoholics do it. I drink alcopops mainly, but whatever else grabs my fancy.

4. Do we? I wouldn’t know and I don't really care; the nation of Ireland can look after itself. Probably. Yes, we might be- we knock it back- so do the Finns.

5. *shrugs* wasn't around in the 70s.

6. Yes. Well, I am anyway- it’s easier than going out to drink because prices when you’re out are crazy. No, it’s a not a bad thing!

7. Possibly.

8. Best thing? Getting drunk and being happy. Worst thing? Having blackouts or being sick into my wastebin.

Best drink ever, i think it has to be guiness it tastes so good.
any reason to drink must be and always is a good reason.
having a drink at home is better in some ways, as it is very cheap,
but you cant beat the atmosphere of the local whilst footballs on.
as a nation i think we need to drink more(we are letting our ancestors down).

anyway cheers, smiley - cheerssmiley - alesmiley - cheers

OOh, bottle of archers - that reminds me of poetry readings when I was at college - the venue had no bar, so it was BYOB, every friday for a year or so.... Good times!

Here's one that they don't let you order in bars - it's called a sunny death: 50ml malibu, 50ml archers, 50ml gin, 25ml vodka, orange juice and lemonade in a pint glass. It's the alcopop from hell sent to eat your soul.

Mostly these days, however, in my hard won maturity smiley - laugh I drink without mixers - red wine, beer, strong liquers (Chartreuse, Absinth, sambuca etc) or old fashioned cocktails.... Then again, bottles of schnapps in one evening.

im a fan of drinking if its done responsible. i dont think its right that people go to the pub to get drunk, i go to the pub to enjoy a beer and the chat that comes with it.

why would you purposely want to get so drunk that your spewing all over the road and stumbling around flashing your money makers?

you can have a good time without all those things.

Be that your perspective, but sometimes I LIKE getting drunk. And I do NOT spew over roads, thank you! Just into my wastebin, which is an entirely different place altogether.
