Spreading like influenza across the face of the urban planet as we know it, the coffee bar is becoming as commonplace as newsagents or fast food joints. Some, wanting to lure customers like insects into a Venus Fly-Trap, choose settings that are conducive to wanting to sit down for a while and study what you're about to part with hard-earned money for.
This is just one example of such a coffee bar, tucked away in the centre of Nottingham three-quarters of the way up a bookstore.

A visit today has shown that this particular coffee shop STILL suffers from an unusual vertigo-inducing sensation when entering it from the book area. Very unnerving.

A slice of life. A good read. Your description of the dizziness inducing experience on entering the shop made me feel a bit dizzy so it's obviously well written. The last part was a little bit like an advert (made me fancy a cup of coffee actually). Maybe I'm just very suggestible but I think that really, you're just very good at describing things.

Thanks very much - that's very kind. Maybe I could get a job working for the AA Good Coffee Bar Guide?!

This was good, but a bit too UK-centric. I had no idea that Waterstons is a book seller. Maybe a little bit of an intro for those of us living outside the UK?
Otherwise, a good entry!

I have made a slight change to the start of the entry to take account for anyone who doesn't know the business of Waterstones. I hope this will suffice.

Also added additional notes on smoking policy, recommended sandwiches and the sublime windows that provide a thoroughly light and easy atmosphere.

I would like to add to the round of applause. Nicely written. Good tone.
Assuming that Coffee Republic policy is the same country-wide, I should like to put a word in for a supreme indulgence, the 'mocha freezer'. Iced coffee with chocolate, cream etc.. You might also want to look at the prices (high?) and maybe credit Borders for the coffee shop in bookstore concept. I am also intrigued by the 'dizzy' effect. Can you pin it down a bit more?

Notes on Mocha Freezer and prices added. Addition of a link to the online Waterstones store. Plus, another stab at why the dizziness sets in. I genuinely have no idea what causes it, but it's happened to other people and it's happened more than once. This aspect lends some uniqueness which, I believe, makes this a worthy entry.

So I went ahead and recommended it.
Well done. Anna agreed that it should be included in the Edited Guide and said 'I've been in that very Waterstones!' How cool is that?
Anyway, congratulations! You've cleared the first hurdle. Now you enter the editorial process. First this thread will be moved out of Peer Review and put at the bottom of your entry. The entry title will appear as 'Recommended' on your personal space and the entry itself will join the queue waiting to go out to the Subeditors.
When the Sub is done with it, the entry will be returned to the h2g2 Towers for a final review by the paid staff before joining the queue for the front page or heading off to the art team for artwork.
When it finally makes it through this long journey, you'll receive an email from Mark telling you that you're entry has been included into the Edited Guide.
Again, congratulations!
Do keep writing and submitting things to Peer Review!!

I've been in there too - frequently. And am rather fond of their Apple Winter Warmer at the moment.
Any other h2g2'ers in Nottingham fancy meeting up there for a to celebrate this article's upcoming Edited status? We could compare diziness effects....

I'm not sure that it's possible to have just a /little/ nibble of those toffee cinnamon squares. They do go rather nicely with the Apple Winter Warmers though...
