Is life just an illusion???

I was recently talking to one of my more frequently intoxicated friends (on what I cannot say) and she tried to convince me that I was an hallucination brought on by her own needs for companionship.
I then bagan thinking of all of my friends in this manner and found that they all display characteristics that I wished I posessed in greater abundance.
Could it be that my friend was the illusion telling me the truth abount life?

I thought of that, once, then I realised that the refutation is *not* the people I like, or love, neither is it the people I loathe and disagree with. It's the people who *almost* agree with the things I see, but they have an irritating blind spot (from my point of view) - the good pacifist people who make an exception for capital punishment, for instance. If I'd created them, they'd either totally agree or totally disagree!

The fact that we are complex beings capable of many sublte degrees of thought means that those we create within our mindset mirror the fact that we spend alot of time thinking about the "grey areas" of belief and thought. For example war is an abborent thing to occur, however, as long as there are people in positions of authority that believe war is necessary we will accept that it happens. As voilence is a part of human nature (an ugly part I'll grant you, but necessary for human survival). Therefore we create characters to fill in the rolls of those who are both pro- and anti-war activists. We also know that many people just don't care if it does not directly affect them and so our psyches create those characters also
