h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The classic goo badge is gone and several others.

I posted about this and the thread was hidden. I got a two line response. I would like to hear a more detailed response of the reason. A public explanation would be nice so that everyone that does not know the reason finds out. There are alot of users that have badges on their pages so atleast they could know why they cannot see it anymore. Also will they comeback or are there any alternatives?

Hello again Ford, We've just realised the answer is the same as the one some very able Researchers gave here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F55607?thread=334877 We had to disable the link enabling the graphic to appear as people were using it to display off-site images, which are a real risk to us from a moderation point of view. The policy to not allow links to pictures (other than blobs) has been in place for a long time. Thanks again, h2g2 Support

Thank you for your timely response. I'm sure other people will find this helpful. Perhaps you should disable hotlinking, but I'll leave the technical details to the very capable h2g2 support group .
