I've just finished reading GOF again, and noticed that Snape appeared in Barty Crouch's (aka Mad-Eye Moody) foe-glass. So he is an enemy of Death Eaters, no?

Good point. Snape is hardly whiter than white and probably in the spying game for his own grubby purposes but I think he is grudgingly on the side of the good guys.
Dumbledore was pleading to die not to be saved. He was the final barrier between Voldie and Harry. The final battle ccould not have taken place with Dumbledore still around.
