Cabinet Discussion: Christmas Party
Peregrin Started conversation Oct 28, 2000
Please read the last paragraph on the Alabaster House page! (I think it's the last paragraph... it's written in red so it stands out)
So... cabinet... can I get you to help? Tinkerbell could provide jelly... and everybody else could help in some way I'm sure
When the event starts I'll create a page filled with contributions from yourselves: eg. pictures (of snacks etc); descriptions of party games (RL ones or ones that can be played in forums); recipes for Christmas foodstuffs; Christmas Carols (h2g2 orientated!); or whatever your devious minds can come up with!
And then the party can begin

I'll help
But I'm not sure what the ministry of sleeping can provide... (that would be useful for a party...)
*Continues to think...*

Isn't it obvious? I suppose the Ministry of Wisdom will have to sort all these little things out because we're all so Wise... the Ministry of Sleeping can provide accomodation for those who are too hungover to return home when the party finishes, and rest areas for while it's going on, as I'm sure it will last for a number of weeks.
My Ministry will provide toothbrushes and toothpaste for people worried about the effects of the jelly on their dental health. We will also be providing cuddly Tux toys with santa hats on to promote the festive spirit.

Oops, symlpost.
When the party begins Ministers could begin/help keep going various forums (like a dozing off/passing out thread! )

MaW Posted Oct 29, 2000
Definitely. Have a thread for each room. I think we'll need a new Entry to hang the threads from though, don't you agree?

The Fish Posted Oct 29, 2000
You, we definitely need a new page...
I'd be happy to provide accomodation, couches, dozing areas and crash out spots for the party

Peregrin Posted Oct 29, 2000
Yes, there will definitely be a new page. But I'm not going to start it just yet seeing as it isn't even November! I'll probably start it at the beginning of December. Or to coincide with the RL meetup.
My idea is that people who want to can create material to be put on the page, so there's something visual/interactive that people can experience as well as chatting in forums. I'll put all the material together and put it on the party page when the party begins.

*grins at the idea of Pingu in a santa hat*
I haven't read the last paragraph so I don't understand...what are we discussing?
Cabinet Discussion: Christmas Party
Peregrin Posted Oct 30, 2000
A Christmas Party on h2g2... hosted by the Alabaster House and the cabinet. You could provide jelly if you like
Cabinet Discussion: Christmas Party
MaW Posted Oct 31, 2000
Oh, my Ministry can also provide Sushi, although there're only three items on the menu at the Sushi Bar at the moment so it won't be very exciting Sushi. Anyone with ideas can pop by and suggest new ones though - I can't remember the article number so you'll have to go through my space to get there.

Can I bring Um Bongo?
*giggles*

Peregrin Posted Oct 31, 2000
Er... what's it like? I've only seen the adverts. Those are enough to put me off it for life, but I'm open minded.

"... Um Bongo, Um Bongo... de drink it in de Congo...."
It's just like a fruity tropical drink thing.... quite nice
I could provide cushions
Cabinet Discussion: Christmas Party
Peregrin Posted Oct 31, 2000
Sounds good.
Could you each write something about what you're providing? A description of the cushions, for example. Suitably silly and over the top, of course.
And if you can find any suitable pictures then include them as well.
Don't put the material on h2g2 yet, I'll put them all on the party page at once when the party starts.

This I am going to enjoy. I've not had the chance to write anything suitably gratuitously descriptive for quite some time now... oh, at least five minutes.

*looks amazed*
You grew up in the 80's and you've never had Um Bongo *grins at the word Bongo* how'd you manage that?
*passes over a carton of Original Um Bongo*
Be careful with the straw though, they've changed them and they're now less than effective
Cabinet Discussion: Christmas Party
Peregrin Posted Oct 31, 2000
*stabs himself with the straw* Whoops. I see what you mean.
Cabinet Discussion: Christmas Party
Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Oct 31, 2000
*squirts Um Bongo all over the floor*
They made them longer to try and be helpful but they didn't think that if you create an extending straw then it tends to contract at inopportune moments as well...such as whenever you try to drink from it
