Entry: Getting a hammock up to speed - A4433997
Author: knutmoe - U1703170

There are things I know, that others should know, and that I must take responsibility for making other people know.

Inducing speed to a hammock without involving a third object is one of them.

Do you agree?

I really like this smiley - ok

As it stands, it would be a strong candidate for the Underguide. For the Edited Guide, I reckon it needs a tad more science (eg. explain the dynamics)

Yeah,

This might not be the text that changes the world. Where do I find that?

You need to got to PeerReview and click on the 'Remove' button beside your Entry. This will take it out of PR.

Then go back into your entry again, click on 'Submit For Review' and this time, choose 'Alternative Writing Workshop'.

I don't think it needs science? It needs a bit of work to get it to fit the guidelines, but not much, and I think it could do with a section on how to get into the damn thing in the first place, but otherwise I think this is a great entry and should stay here and get into the Guide!

Traveller in Time smiley - tit seeing some potential
"First thing that comes to mind is: What is a Hammock ?

If you change the 'attached' to 'suspended in the air' we can understand the wires are not to keep it in place on the ground but hanging on some trees.
Adding some links would do the trick as well
< A737615 > 'How To Make A Hammock' (hmm, I should read this, I have made several)
< A930179 > 'Relaxation Techniques'
< A1283078 > 'Laziness' ( with < <./>B4583510</.> > )

When you discuss the motion you could als use the word swing, as it stands you can be trying to move a magic carpet. smiley - flyhi "

YES!

I will write a section on how to mount the hammock smiley - smiley.

Problem is I moved since writing this first piece, and I need to be in the damned thing when writing. It just works that way.

Starting to look for ways to assemble the hammock where I live now immediately.

Good idea - thanks

In the meantime, have a look at some of the other entries in the Guide, and try to make your entry fit a bit. For instance, we don't use 'I', so the first and the third paragraph need to be reworded to remove them. Some people use 'This Researcher' instead although that can sound a bit awkward.

Changing the title to 'How to Mount and Swing a Hammock' might help (once you've added the section on getting in). As previously mentioned, adding links to other entries would also help. Changes all references to 'at speed' or 'up to speed' (or similar) to something about getting the hammock to swing - the 'up to speed' bits didn't really make much sense to me...

Keep going!

Up to speed brought to mind modding a hammock or fitting it out like a hot rod. smiley - laugh So yeah, I second that. But I love the entry. Short, sweet, Guide-esque. And very important. smiley - biggrin

while we're on the topic, can someone write an entry about how to find a place to hang a hammock? I'd love to put up a hammock but don't know where.

You need to get the wording correct if your going to talk about hammocks...they originated in Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica (it may be worth adding some history) and were never made of canvas, instead they were made of string and the most common way of sitting in one was perpendicular to the normal 'european' way...

(that last one could be used as a picture for this entry as its a BBC picture couldn't it? smiley - erm)

I've seen cord ones for 'european' style use too. Canvas might be a bit too constraining.

Are you still working on this, knutmoe? smiley - smiley

If you've disappeared, then I reckon this should go to the Flea Market, as reviewers have posted some good ideas on how to develop it.
