A Conversation for Talking Point: When Do You Become an Adult?
Never! Never I tell you!

Subject lines sums it all up. I refuse to grow up. Whichever of the criteria I meet.

I agree. I don't think you ever really grow up.
Biologically you do. Mentally you do. Emotionally you do. But...wait a minute. Actually, I disagree with you!
I think there is no specific time at which you are an "adult", but it's more of an ongoing process. Whenever you learn new things, you're growing up.
Although, I feel very strongly towards "being a kid at heart". Silly things that can bring simple pleasures that kids take for granted, but adults are embarrassed to do: like humming or whistling to yourself as you walk to work, laughing at anything remotely funny, being thrilled at the prospect of eating candy, or regularly listening to theme songs from your favourite cartoons.

Let me guess, said people claim that you need to stop watching childish TV shows, stop playing childish games, stop Trick or Treating, stop wearing T-Shirts at social functions, stop laughing, stop enjoying yourself, stop wiping your hands with your mouth and learn some manners?
Well tell them to shut up and leave you alone or, failing that, die; I say.

Firstly, I've been using this name for years, and it still makes me giggle.
But returning to the point: Is being an adult about the things you do, or the attidude you have about them? Yes, I have learn many things over the last several years, but I still enjoy watching Count Duckula, I still giggle when someone says something I think sounds rude etc. We may have to change as we progress in life, take on more responsibilities etc, but why does that mean 'growing up'? So often is the case I'll go to do something, and people will say "You can't do that!" and not one of them will be able to think of a reason why not, other than that I'm supposed to be acting my age. I like acting myself.
Biologically, yes I have matured. But do my height and facial hair really have any bearing on the person I am?

Can we be sure it's "growing up"? What if we're growing down or sideways or about ... Besides, who is the authority on what an xx-year-old can and cannot do? Is there some council or committee who says things like "people over the age of 21 cannot dance to music by any of the S Clubs"?

I think all of the s clubs should be hung by their ankles until they die, but i know what you mean. Apparently rolling down a hill then poking the people at the bottom is innappropriate. especially if you wear a cape whilst doing it.

Cupid Stunt has to be one of the greatest names I've ever seen!
Anonymouse is pretty good, as is Caper Plip (both post here at h2g2), but Cupid Stunt is top-range.
TRiG.

Yes, and it's that name that assures us that the researcher had not yet become on adult.
Cute name, yes; but hardly adult.
