A Conversation for Talking Point: When Do You Become an Adult?
My criteria for adulthood

I don't set the rules, but here are my criteria.
When you can say, It's my fault, I'm sorry, and mean it.
When you can ask for directions instead of insisting you're fine.
When you can say, May I help you?, without expecting a return.
When you can say, Yes, thank you; I could use some help.
When you care enough not to be a danger or an unnecessary bother to others.
When you still do some things playfully and childishly, but know when to stop.
When you realize that 'things' are of secondary imporance to people.
When you do what you can to protect somebody from someone stronger than them.
When you can listen to a friend and not try to 'fix' things or make suggestions without being asked.
When you're capable of getting drunk, fighting, killing, or engaging in unprotected sex, but refuse to do any of it.
When you can say, When I was younger..., and know that you don't ever need to go back.
