Grey Area Posted Aug 17, 2001
hmm, interesting... i actually got the name from one of Iain Banks's books, it was the name of one of the ships. but i may have subconsciously chosen it for those reasons. i guess i don't like people to jump to conclusions over me...
actually, i'm pretty random with nicknames. my MSN names tend to be random things that i've said in conversations with people that day, like "ah, so the pear is ripe after all..." - hehe

Ommigosh Posted Aug 17, 2001
Cheers!
I didn't know about the Iain Banks boat. I have only read 1 of his books so far.
I did also wonder if "Grey Area" had anything to do with those "Grey" aliens which seemed to be poular a few years ago (and also Area 51 which is sort of related).
Why don't you have a go at someone else's name now. There are plenty to choose from!!
Analysing for MITH
Ommigosh Posted Aug 18, 2001
MITH looks like an acronym for something (who knows what?) as it is all capitalised. Big companies often go in for acronyms, maybe you dream of wielding power at the head of a big organisation?
It sounds like "myth" and a bit like "mist". This combination makes me think of legends and mysterious, romantic tales of ancient times.
(Maybe it is actually about MIT, but who knows?)
"Mithilion Majire" is another form given in an earlier post, this suggests magic (from Magi), and is a bit Tolkienesque to look at. You are possibly fascinated by magic and mysticism.
The name somehow suggests size and majesty. I reckon that you like to think big and possibly have a fascination for power and fantasize about being in charge (like a strong ruler or monarch).

Oh yes, MITH, the "Keeper of Annoying Keeper Names" bit betrays a sense of humour.....but with a hard edge. I reckon you don't suffer fools gladly.

MITH, Keeper of the Annoying Keeper Names Posted Aug 18, 2001
Fools without humour of thier fooldom (that's not a word is it?), no. Fools with a humourof thier fooldom, yes.(of course I have been known to be a fool myself sometimes)
Mysticsm and the ocult is an interest of mine, simply for the fact that many of it's aspects are like those of science but with a twist.
Also, I am in startup for a company right now, so I guess that the whole power aspect.
MITH is because it is a shortened form of Mithilion, but I accidently pressed CAPS the first time I ever spelles it that way and I decided to continue using it.
I am a huge Tolkien fan (I have even attempted the massive undertaking of reading _the_Silmarilion_ and I know some Sindar, Quenya, and Khuzdul), but the name also takes from the brothers Majere of _Dragonlance_ fame. I also have a great interest in the ancient myths and legends of almost all civilizations.
You did pretty good with just putting down whatever came to mind. Thanks. Sorry if that was too long.

btw, although I'm the owner of this page, I'm no longer providing analysis - I'm simply out of time and energy. Please continue to talk amongst yourselves and have lots of fun looking at names and their meanings, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to now.

Analysing for Agnetha, AnnaFrid, Miranda, Marcia Brady...
Agnetha Posted Aug 20, 2001
Hmm, this is a curious one...
Four different names, one with a surname, three without. All clearly female, and all could pass as real names in a pinch... well, almost. The
obvious connection is with ABBA - Agnetha and Anni-Frid being the names of the two female members of that band; "Anna-Frid" is a more
common version of Anni-Frid, and if a website doesn't allow hyphens, then the contraction is normal.
CORRECT!
Similarly obvious is that Marcia Brady
is a reference to the Brady Bunch. No rocket science here. Someone who is a fan of those is probably someone who was around to
hear/see them the first time - so between 30 and 40, give or take. It might be someone who's rediscovered them as they've come back into
fashion as "ironic", but with two different things from that age, it seems unlikely.
CORRECT! I'M 40
Miranda.... is less certain. Given the other three names, it seems likely that this is the name of someone else who was fairly famous
around the same sort of era. Miranda Richardson (from Black Adder II), perhaps - but she didn't become famous till the early 1980's. An
alternative perhaps is that *this name* is the author's real name, while the other three are fakes... I suspect this isn't the case, though...
SORT OF CORRECT! THE MIRANDA I'M THINKING OF IS A GIRL I ABSOLUTELY WORSHIPPED IN THE 80'S WHEN I MET HER. WE NEVER WENT OUT TOGETHER - SHE WAS WAY OUT OF MY LEAGUE.. BUT I NEVER FORGOT HER. "MIRANDA", BY THE WAY, MEANS WORTHY TO BE ADMIRED, AND SHE CERTAINLY WAS AND IS..
because this user feels to secretive to give this information - it's probably part of their mystique... Though I would be happy to
stick my neck on the line, and say that the user's REAL first name begins with an M or an A.
NO, BUT GOOD GUESS! I HADN'T REALISED THAT THERE WERE TWO M'S AND TWO A'S TILL YOU POINTED IT OUT. IT ACTUALLY STARTS WITH A T
Oh, female obviously.
THANKS I'M FLATTERED! ACTUALLY I'M JUST FAIRLY "GIRLY" AND LIKE TO BE REALTED TO AS A FEMALE.. EITHER IN REAL LIFE OR ON THE WEB..
Even the weirdest
cross-gender name user occasionally uses names of their own gender, I think it's some kind of law or something...
SORRY TO BREAK THE LAW.. BUT BOY STUFF AND BOY NAMES.. YUCK!
ACTUALLY I'M USING THE NAMES OF FOUR WOMEN FROM MY FORMATIVE YEARS WHO I LOOKED AT, LOVED AND ADORED,TO THE POINT OF WANTING TO EMULATE THEM. SO I WENT FROM I LOVE YOU TO I WISH I WAS YOU.. IS THAT VERY COMMON? WE ALL LOVED THE GIRLS FROM ABBA - TOO GLAMOROUS FOR WORDS! EVERYONE WANTED TO BE AS POPULAR AND LOVED AS MARCIA. AND I WISHED I WAS UP TO THE LEVEL, BEAUTY AND POPULARITY OF MIRANDA
SO THEY ARE "I WISH I WAS THEM" NAMES..
