MIDI Musicians?

I've used MIDI in my music technology gcse.
I weren't sure what to make about the keyboard input, as that limited me a lot, but I found it quite easy on the finale stuff.

How did the GCSE go? O or A level?
For anybody who is doing stuff with MIDI, and interested in software for building patterns and tracks, has anybody else out there tried the UMM (Universal Midi Machine)? freeware.
So far, I have used it mainly to make short example files for Wikiversity but I like the simplicity of the interface.

Ohh, theres no exam, I'm still doing it. I managed to get a distinction on the bit with midi
