It's my birthday two days after yours, zoomer, so we could have a joint birthday party combined with the meet - and maybe we'd even get some s!

The 8th and the 15th have been suggested, 2legs. I'd prefer the 8th because, since I'm not working that week, I could spend a couple of extra days in London and make flying there from Seville a bit more worthwhile. Also, it's the day after my birthday.
Anyhow, that's my vote.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Oct 20, 2004
I'll come to London on the 8th, the 15th or the 29th. I'd like to know soon, though, so that I can get a cheap flights. If I were to book today, the return flight would only cost me £1.32 plus tax.

I agree the earliest we set the day the more people will be able to come, people need time to plan...

I don't know if youve all noticed, but I have now set up a page specifically on the London Christmas meet this year;
I cna't remember the A number, its on my PS, I'll go grab it; it might be worth moving a discussion of date over to there as a few people that I don't think are in this thread are already found that page
I'll go get the A number

So the date is decided apon, the 8 January.
I'm off tomorrow and busy today getting sorted for that, and we really need to start getting potential venu's explored I've asked this in a few of the threads of the main meet page, but I'll put it here too in case its picked up here and not there, if you see what I mean.
It'd be great if folks could argure amongst themselves and approch, phone, or in person (if you live near them ) some of the potential venu's and chek they have the 8 th as a free* day we could book them on, and chek out stuff like what they'd charge, or if we have to have a minimum amount of cash go from our side of the bar to their tills etc....
the venu's thus far I can think of, and there might be more people have suggested that I've missed on are::
Shakespears head (high holborn)
Princess louise (high holborn :: both been too several times during day at previous meets, both near each other, near the oak.
Lord moon of the mal (big chain pub we went to during the day at a previous meet I think* when the meets were still offically arranged, was the meet where we did the photo scavenger hunt)
Bell book and candle (near St pauls I think, suggested by Bluesshark before the previous meet, as a potential venue, I never managed to get in contact with them, but miht be a potential maybe),
This ere place we talk of this thread? Would that be suitable for an evening event venu?
Important stuff we need to know.
is it fre (minimum spend at bar, have to buy food have to pay booking fee for venue)
food, do they do food in the evening?
are they free on the 8th Jan.
location, near tube? central?
Beer, do they have some decent beer we mnight want to drink/decent white wine/red wine. anythign else you can think of
for having to ask someone else to do this, but it'l be a while before I wam able to and think I do we need to get stuff moving

Two questions only:
Why a Sunday??
and
Would they let me bring in a couple of little bottles of pre-made Caesars for some of the most adventurous of you to sample?
(I'm thinking I may be able to do this is finances permit.

zoomer, it is not acceptable for you to bring your own drink to a pub. This is apparently the reason our group is no longer allowed in the Penderel's Oak.

Anyone know where the maple leaf is in relation to the Bell Book and Candle (near St Pauls)? we're thinking about a venue for the afternoon drinkies, and at the moment the only thin gwe've come up with is the bell book and candle, it'd be nice if we could have a bit more variety rather than sticking to the same pu pub afternoon and evening

Well, I vote for one pub, myself, preferring to settle in and socialise. But there you go.
