This is a Flea Market rescue. The original author hit difficulties when PR highlighted that a tank top is something completely different in the US. I've dealt with this at the outset.

This is much clearer than the original version. or it is because I read it twice now.

If I understood it correctly, a tank top is what's called a Pullunder here (a sleeveless pullover) and it isn't worn under your short, like our name for it might imply. A tank top here is a better vest, worn like a t-shirt.

Or even under your shirt.

That is exactly the difference between the US and UK view of what a 'tank top' is.

Yes, it just shows that the USA's influence on Germany is extreme.
It is the reason why it took me two reads to get what a tank top actually is (in the UK).

Tank tops are quite popular amongst business women - they are worn over a shirt as a slightly less formal alternative to a suit jacket. I have a couple which I wear to work relatively often, and when I worked in the City quite a few women wore them.

Yes I know . But my justification for this is that when I googled 'crop tops', quite often 'tank tops' are mentioned in the same vein.
