Hmmm ... there should be a memorial concert if there's a statue. And since he's dead, I can be totally disrespectful! *wicked grin*
Let's see ... the Gypsy Kings? Chris deBurgh singing "Lady in Red"?
Come off it, Red doesn't deserve that. I'll just have something in good taste.
*Points at the statue -- and a stage materialises in front of it, occupied by Elvis Costello. He launches into "She's Not The Only Flame", with Chrome singing along enthusiastically.*

Dead? Not yet. Death-like, I grant you...
But a concert is a great idea, especially since we're sitting about waiting for the bomb to go off. And since the statue is blocking traffic already, why not add a stage and a whopping great screen with gantries for lights and a couple of mountains of speakers...
*as Lil speaks the required props come into position, and a jerky MTV style movie begins to play on the backdrop*
*Elvis Costello looks momentarily suprised as this occurs, then looks pleased as Bruce Springsteen runs on stage followed by the entire E Street Band*
*The Boss launches into Born to Run and Elvis Costello sings with him*
*so does Lil from her seat on the ground*

Well, that would be nice except that Jerry Garcia really is dead. So he's stopped touring.
Maybe Genocide Revised can suggest some Swedish death metal bands.

Swedish death metal bands? Ok, how about....
Bathory, Entombed, Marduk, Satyricon, Yes, Opthalamia, Dark Funeral, Mayhem, Emperor, Lord Belial, The Abyss, The Eagles, Nifelheim, Necrophobic, Sacramentum, Unanimated, Meat Loaf, War, Old Man's Child, Immortal, Peccatum and Deep Purple.
Personally, I would recommend Iron Maiden (old material for hard, solid music. For more mellow stuff: the new album), Slayer (all eras), Saxon (early stuff), AC/DC (ditto), Samson (ditto), Guns N Roses (select best songs), Whitesnake (Come An' Get It) and whatever I'm in the mood for.
Thank you

no, no, no...
i knew red better than all of you, and i think he'd want papa roach, blink 182, and limp bizkit to play at the memorial concert.

*Idly fingers his polka gun, wondering how much it would ruin everyone's fun if all of the serious bands and singers started playing and singing some various polka songs. Wisely decides not to do it, and amuses himself instead by discreetly scheduling Weird Al to play after all of the other researchers leave*
Hey, why not? As long as I'm the only one here, it's not like he'd bother anyone.

*The Space Station, still in orbit above the snow-covered statue (see other thread), and firing the inversed shield down on it, now eits a second, green beam down in front of the situation.*
*Pr. C. Tonks materialises from it...*
*then covers his ears...*
Hell, what is all this?!
*presses a few buttons on his Watch, so he tunes the bands' noise out of his hearing...*
*whispers to Affy:*
Hey, er, which W. Al are you going to play? I quite like Star Wars Cantina myself...
*surveys the scene: the statue covered in snow, and held in a shimmering blue force-field, the stage, towers of speakers, the bandfs, and the people. He looks into the distance above him, and sees a tiny black dot crash into the sun, just as the bands' songs reach their climaxes...*
Nah, that's not the Raven, surely!
Oh, what's that thing hurtling back towards us?

*Chrome is very pleased that his idea has gone down so well. Especially now The Boss has segued into "Dancing in the Dark". *

Blink 182 and Limp Wristed? Hey, let's not turn this into a pop concert...

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Sep 7, 2000
No, no. It should not be a pop concert. I'm thinking Wagner maybe. Something deep, meaningful, yet still fun...

[sea] no, not limp wristed... limp bizkit. and it's not pop, it's ROCK. r-o-c-k. and there's nothing wrong with that... but if you guys are going to have pathetic music... my twin may do something awful...
[evillene] darn right...

Afgncaap5 Posted Sep 8, 2000
I think Star Wars Cantina wasn't written by W. Al. He's gotten credit for about ninety percent of all the funny songs ever written, but he's only written about half of them. I was thinking about having Al sing something from every album, and at least two polkas. How's this for a line up:
Another One Rides The Bus
I Lost On Jeopardy
Bohemian Polka
Living With A Hernia
Dare To Be Stupid
Trigger Happy
Fat
Polka Power!
Yoda
Something like that.
*Listens to some of the music. Considers rewiring the speakers to translate everything played by the musicians into Wogner*
Evillene, do you really think Red would appreciate you injuring the public at the memorial concert for his statue? It'd be really, really, *really* bad for his campaign. Granted, so is the bomb, but you don't really want to make it worse, do you?
*Relieved that KL doesn't share his head anymore: now he can insult the baddies*
Memorial Concert
soeasilyamused, or sea Posted Sep 8, 2000
[evillene] okay, firstly, it's SEA that is affiliated with red... i personally don't give a rat's... behind... about who wins the prez race. so that's not a good enough reason for me not to do something awful... and you're just sore because i insulted you first. and like you said, you and the KL are seperate entities, and should be treated as such.
[sea] don't get her going... please... wagner makes her crazy! and don't even THINK about weird al... after the initiation, she has some sort of post traumatic stress disorder or something...

*jumps onstage, takes the mic and shouts into it*
Please, please, please! Friends! Would The Masque have liked us to argue like this? [Probably, but I don't]
Evillene, do not fight over the choice of music. I think Sprinsteen is coming to end of his set [without playing Born in the USA - phew] and then you can have Wagner or whatever.
Genocide Revised -- do not insult Limp Bizkit just cause they more "mainstream" -- everyone has their niche ... the true cause of evil is Garth Brooks ... that's my rant over.
*climbs down from the stage, smiling *
[Oh yeah, and I refer to the Masque as dead because we're both fatally wounded in a different forum.]

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Sep 8, 2000
Oh! the dreaded deaded...
I thought the true cause of all evil in music was the bunch who sang "(Save All Your) Kisses for Me" and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree".
Ack! Argh! Now I've thought of the song and I can't stop hearing it in my mind!! *begins to howl*
Memorial Concert
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Sep 8, 2000
Only contempt from this quarter, concerning mainstream pop bands such as the aforementioned LD, Kid C**k, Korny etc. It's insulting to see these bands in Kerrang! and Metal Hammer (allegedly reputable metal mags) alongside the REAL metal bands. Ones that DON'T have strains of ever-so-fashionable rap and ever-so-fashionable image and labels and god knows what else.
Up the Irons!!!
Memorial Concert
Afgncaap5 Posted Sep 8, 2000
*Shakes his head*
There is no such thing as a bad style of music. I've heard music from every category, and have found at least one good song in all of them.
*Grins inwardly, seeing that Red's statue, a statue of an evil, heartless villain, is actually doing something good for the community: causing an intellectual argument over music, interupted at certain ocassions by fairly amusing comments*
BTW, Chrome, I was only saying that it would amuse me to have Wogner music start playing because it would make some people in the crowd scream at the bands, and cause a little panic. I don't need to hear it on purpose. That's why I've scheduled Weird Al for the end of the show.
