You know the Uni of life approach is the best suggetion made so far - that way you can get a researcher for each sub-genres, I still think the title should be Alternative music (see point made in post 6). Why not go over to University of life and see if you can set this up http://www.h2g2.com/C695.

I think this entry is pretty good, myself.
The section on "Today's Rock Music" is a little rambling and confusing, though.

There is no link at the begining of this thread - hence I've not read the but there is also a lot of comment about making it into a uni project.
