What was that other song they released after Free As A Bird? I know both were Johns that the other 3 added to years after John's death.

I like the lyrics on that song .I know its daft but i listened to free as a bird the other day .It was the first time i had heard it in a long time .And i was a little bit emotional .The idea of the remaining 3 trying to create another beatles song and pauls vocals on the song just like it would have been like if John was living.

Ya, Eleanor Rigby was one of the first songs I heard by them... I was first exposed to the Beatles through the Yellow Submarine movie
But then went straight on to Abbey Road

I don't care much for Rigby tbh, its like Penny Lane, I don't see the appeal (well I didn't until I heard it in the context of the album, but on its own, nah) Songs that did it for me were Sgt Pepper's and the Reprise, Strawberry Fields and I Am The Walrus. And I guess Yesterday

i think it was the Harmonies in eleanor rigby that got me hooked

I always found that Eleanor Rigby was quite a "cold" song...sung and played to perfection, quite understated. Penny Lane had always had a sunny ring to it, more lyrical.
Personally I think the Penny Lane/Strawberry Fiels-single was de real nucleus of the Beatles discography; brilliant, exotic, melodic (Penny Lane), strange, outlandish, brave (Straw.Fields)...both experimental (the 4 piano's on Penny Lane, almost all the sounds on Fields)
I am getting a bit carried away..

The magical mystery tour song is a silly lyric .But in them days (before the arguements) the other 3 really followed pauls lead and Harmonised the song .bit similar in paper back writer .

It always sounded to me as the sequel to Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band (the song), only a bit wearier, not the same punch to it..

After they stopped touring in 1966 they went into the studio and produced sgt pepper and the magical mystery tour albums. The white album took a long time to produce what with the visits to india etc
I think what with being unable to tour and being stuck in the studio day in day out they started to get on each others nerves.
so i believe the fact they were unable to tour caused them to break

I really like She Came in Through the Bathroom Window for some reason... and Don't Let Me Down... and Something(love the bass)...and ... ok I'll stop now.

There's whole discussions going on about these bass-lines in Something; some think it's too busy, I think it's typical Macca; he's almost playing bass-solo's!
