This is NOT the Beatles BEST!
How can it be without I AM THE WALRUS & STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER as the singles these were from were released as double 'A' sides.
Without them it makes it look like Paul was the lead in the Beales Phycadelic era when in FACT it was John...

KiwiBeatle Posted Mar 21, 2006
YES! - as I said IATW was a double A side with Hello Goodbye,
SFF was double A side with Penny Lane so there fore all 4 songs went to # 1
The album as it stands is very Paul biased. I believe ALL 'B' sides should have been included too to give a more acurate & balanced album - What do you think?
"1" album - NOT!
Michael Posted Mar 21, 2006
Yes, I don't actually have "1" so can't comment, nor will I be buying it as it doesn't have any new songs that I don't have on other albums.

KiwiBeatle Posted Mar 24, 2006
YES - esp. as double 'a' side day tripper/ we can work it out WAS included....
Actually I've been listening too Past Maters vol 1 & 2 ( on vynil!)
recently - I think it is closer to a best of the Beatles than '1' is!

really?
You are going to have fun discovering all these songs for the 1st time! I remember what a magical time it was finding a Beatle album I hadn't heard & rushing home to hear the gems held within...
So you've yet to hear:
- 2 tracks of blissfull 3 part harmonies..
- the 4 best Beatle RocknRoll covers...
- the first Beatle track that as a vocal track played BACKWARDS...
- a track with all the music played on indian instruments , by indians, in India!....
- a track with only one line of lyric repeated in all sorts of bizzar & funny ways....
You lucky thing - ENJOY!

MatchBox is sung by Ringo!
It appeared on the Long Tall Sally EP in the United Kingdom and the Something New album in the United States, and was also the B-side of the American "Slow Down" single, released on 24 August 1964, which reached no. 17 in the charts.

Yey!! Ringo gets a song. He always seems to get funny ones. though "Good Night" was more of a ballad. Quite like that one.
