Well, I guess NOW you do...smiley - winkeye

Anyway- how would you avoid cliche's in your work? I've looked at stuff I wrote, last night, snd they're just full of them. And in lyrics it's even worse- I sometimes put in anything that RHYMES, without thinking about it...
Ugh!
Maybe I should start ny something like what you did- take a song and translate it, work with it...
What do you think?

If'n you say so...smiley - tongueout

Cliches...can be tough...I doubt I'd be able to write song lyrics without falling back on cliches, because to a certain extent you are constrained by the whole rhyming thing...not that lyrics have to rhyme by necessity...I made a story out of a song, and really all I did was use the title as inspiration and moulded my own concept out of that, so that I wasn't limited by the song itself, which made it easier to avoid things like that...I think once you put limits on your work that you aren't really comfortable within, that's when it becomes too easy to fall back on cliches...but generally, if you really have to use a cliche, at least try to use it in an interesting or surprising way, or for comedic value change one of the words so as to get a ridiculous, but still possible, result...

Well, never mind the rhymes, which are even harder in English, but it must have rhythm!smiley - yikes
I love this Israeli song, I think I'll work on translating it, just to get the hang of it, without really having to make up something new.
Good idea?

It could certainly help give you an idea of why it works...you can't get much deeper into a song than trying to translate it...smiley - smiley
