Well, pheloxi* got quite upset when I asked in which part of Holland he lives, and said it's the Netherlands, not Holland.
Now I'm confused...

Well, the basic reason for that is that the country is known as the Netherlads, but two of the 12 provinces are North and South Holland, which respectively contain the two major cities, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Whether this is actually the reason for the fact that many people call the country Holland or not I don't know, but I suspect that maybe pheloxi* is from one of the other provinces
For reference, they are; Drenthe, Flevoland, Friesland, Gelderland, Groningen, Limburg, Noord-Brabant, Noord-Holland, Overijssel, Utrecht, Zeeland, Zuid-Holland.

Well, a friend of a friend of a friend was from the Netherlands, and I remember a discussion about Holland only being a part of the Netherlands, not the whole country, so I just did a Google search for Netherlands map provinces, and there it all was lying in front of me... Next I'll tell you how I pull the rabbit from the hat...
