That's the pages my copy of Noddy and the Naughty Nurse falls open at. Can I have it back now? You've been reading it since Alton Towers last year.

I've tried logs, exponents, bases and loads more besides and I'm stumped... and I won't be surprised if I've been on completely the wrong track all along
someone PLEASE put me out of my misery

Geggs Posted Feb 13, 2003
It's all about bases.
42 is in base 10 - normal decimal
46 is 42 in base 9
52 in base 8
60 in base 7
110 in base 6
132 in base 5
so it's 220 in base 4.
But please don't ask me to set a question!

Right reasoning, but wrong answer Geggs! It should be 222...

Geggs Posted Feb 13, 2003
Yeah, I just noticed that.
Oh well.
Logic good, but maths bad.
I'll come up with a question eventually, but it may take quite a while!

Oh dearie me, oh my oh my! And we were doing so well;
it was all moving along so nicely.
Now we find ourselves waiting for the guy with the wrong answer to post the next question ??? There's something wrong with this picture. No offense intended Geggs, but we have very strict rules.
If the correct answer was 222 as the good Herr Doktor Professor Justin claims and you acknowledge, then custom and honour demand that Dr Justin will be the next Poser. We can't have the likes of Master B chucking tomatoes.
Unless of course you have your question ready and get here first.

All very well ~j~ *but* Dr J posed the previous question...
Can we assume that his reply (in post 50) passed the baton to Geggs? I think so

Did I forget to mention that my Noddy book now also falls open at page 222 due to Dr J's interest in the Big Ears Exposed chapter? I claim the prize.

Wow! That's a big one...
I got my Noddy book in a car-boot sale. It only has 30 pages, I reckon...
...one...two...
Yeah, 30.
You've got me thinking now. Did there used to be a centrefold?
Whats the score?
Geggs Posted Feb 14, 2003
Right, got one. But it's old, and you've probably heard it before.
Four researchers played a game together, and collated their score afterwards. Geggs noticed that his score, divided by Witty Ditty's score, and then added to Egon's score, equaled Saturnine's score. Then Witty pointed out that the names of those scores were all five letters long.
What are their respective scores?

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Feb 14, 2003
Geggs = forty
divided by WD's eight
plus Egon's three
equals Saturnine's eight.
Um, can WD and Sat have the same score?
Whats the score?
Geggs Posted Feb 14, 2003
Unfortunately not. But if they could you would be right.
