one of my pet hates is people not asking WWJD, but just comparing themselves to Jesus. When I told an acquantance that I no longer wanted to see her, she replied "I guess this is what Jesus must have felt like when all his friends rejected him". Arrogance doesn't even START to do it...

That ain't so terribly bad. You could argue that all mythological characters are ways to help us learn more about the human condition, even if they are gods. If the stories of Jesus help someone understand thier own lives and emotions better, why not?

I could accept "this what it was like for Jesus... but much worse" - but a straight one-one comparison just seems... wrong...
It would be like me saving a goal in a school fourth league game in a match that didn't matter in terms of the final positions, when we were already 9-0 down, and then saying "This is what Seaman felt like when he saved a penalty against Germany in the semi-finals".
Key: Complain about this post
